Dacres Lane is well known for serving delicious food to office goers and students since decades and "Chittoda's Suruchee" is a salient name there.
This food joint is famous for its delicious meal at very pocket friendly rates. The light, less spice, savouries will surely give you a homely feeling. They have an arrangement for about 20-30 people at a time. Different items like Biryani, Fried Rice, Noodles, Rumali Roti, Fish Fry and various chicken and mutton dishes are available here. Apart from that they provide Bread & Chicken stew which demands a special mention and highly preferred by the office goers. We will review their Chicken Stew, Biryani, Noodles in one of our upcoming blogs, but today we have tried to give you a pinch of taste of their "Diamond Fish Fry", "Rumali Roti" and "Chicken Bharta".
The Diamond Fish Fry is a very popular snack among the Bengalis, but the fry from this particular food joint seeks special attention for its thick and fresh fish fillet and thin coat of bread crumbs. It was perfectly juicy, lip smacking and absolutely crispy; and as the name says, it had a pretty diamond shape.
Now lets come to the Rumali Roti and the Chicken Bharta. Not having much to say about the Rumali Roti, it was very soft and well prepared and truly it was as thin as "Rumal" (Handkerchief), as the name suggests. To mention, it is freshly prepared after the order and thus served very hot. A plate of Chicken Bharta contains many small pieces of chicken. It had a heavenly taste with appropriate proportion of spices and they beautifully garnished it with half a boiled egg and fresh cream. As it was a white preparation of chicken, the dish was not at all spicy but a little sweetish and finger-licking.
Last but not the least, I can't stop myself from mentioning about the behaviour of the staffs. I have never seen such polite and sweet spoken staffs in any restaurant. They will take care of your each and every need as soon as you step into the restaurant. From keeping your bags and luggages in a corner to providing you extra plate of salads (even if you dont ask for it) they will always keep themselves busy at your service.
Though it is a non AC and not so decorated eatery, but it maintains proper hygiene and cleanliness and the ingredients used here are of the finest quality. So after you complete your shopping from New Market, you must visit the place with your friends & family and enjoy the highly pleasing refreshments at a very...

Now coming to the taste of what we ordered from the Hidden Gems among the Restaurants of Kolkata.
We ordered - Chicken Bharta , Chicken Chilly, Veg Fried Rice , Rumali Roti
Rumali Roti was soft and it came perfect with Chicken Bharta ..Chicken Bharta was creamy in taste . Somewhat sweet people who don't like Chilly and Spicy Food will love it . It will taste heaven with Naan or Rumali Roti not with rice . As suggested by the waiter uncle. Additionally with the Roti came some amount of Onion and Cucumber Salad which was complimentary .
Chicken Chilly was ordered with Palau ( Veg Fried Rice ) .6 pieces of Chicken Chilly with generous amount of Onions and Capsicum was there .It was spicy and chilly in taste which was perfect with the rice . Gravy is also nice so that u can have the rice. Repeat Orders is surely recommended .Price wise its damn affordable and surely u can keep revisiting them. Surprisingly Zomato is also taking home delivery from this Restaurant.
Pocket Pinch was less than 250 for two hungry Souls . It will surely top our list among " The HIDDEN GEMS OF KOLKATA "

Read moreI have visited this place twice, and both of the visits are around 3 years apart. I remember a friend from college taking our group out to eat at Chittoda's Suruchee restaurant in the Summer of '19. We had chicken bharta and rumali roti, and the delectable taste of the chicken bharta was something that my tongue still remembered and relished.
Three years, a pandemic, and an online graduation later, I visited the restaurant again this week. It was lunch time in the offices, and thus quite crowded. We got a place to sit, and as many would know, you have to share your seats with other strangers most of the time. The rush was high, but that didn't affect the service at all. They served the food fresh and hot within five minutes of taking the orders.
We wanted to taste most of the food there, so we got -Chicken Bharta -Veg Fried Rice -Egg Noodles -Fish Kabiraji
The fried rice was more like Bengali fried rice, with cashew nuts and raisins, so it went very well with the ever delicious chicken bharta. The egg noodles stood on their own accord, and the fish Kabiraji was a wonderful starter. All the items were fresh and great to taste, and so so affordable. We had a complete meal within 500 bucks, and we surely want to come back for more.
Chittoda's Suruchee restaurant doesn't provide you with amenities like the AC or posh ambience. However, they remain true to their service, and their hard work reflects in all the loyal customers they have earned...
