Visit Date 29 Mar & 30 Mar 2025

A Must-Visit Spot for Ambiance During our recent trip to Kolkata, we visited Hashtag twice: first with friends (Day 1) and then with family (Day 2). Location and Vibe Situated in a prime location across from the Birla Planetarium, Hashtag is an inviting pub and café known for its live music. Loud Live Music On our first visit, we found the music to be quite loud, which somewhat dampened our experience. While the energetic tunes were undeniably appealing to the crowd, we had come for a more relaxed evening of drinks and reconnecting with friends after many years. Stunning Rooftop Ambiance Despite the volume of the music, we decided to explore the rooftop, and it transformed our evening. Once we settled into the swinging chairs, we found it hard to leave. The gentle breeze, strategic lighting, and the breathtaking views of iconic landmarks like Victoria Memorial, St. Paul’s Cathedral, and the Birla Planetarium captivated us. On a smog free evening, the twinkling lights of traffic could also be seen along the Second Hooghly Bridge, creating a picturesque backdrop. Food and Drinks The drink selection was impressive, with a variety of house cocktails and mocktails that we thoroughly enjoyed. As for the food, we didn’t find anything particularly memorable aside from the non-vegetarian tandoori platter on Day 2. On our first day, we tried the fish fingers that had a stale taste and the Murg tikka that was unremarkable. After moving to the rooftop, we ordered a Chicken Butter Masala platter accompanied by Dal Makhni and naan, and for dessert, we had Tiramisu and Berry Merry Cheesecake. On Day 2, we headed directly to the rooftop and enjoyed the non-veg tandoori platter featuring an assortment of fish, mutton, chicken, and prawns. For dinner, we sampled Margherita Pizza, naan, Lal Maas, Bhetki Begum Bahar, and dal fry. Access The main hall is on the 8th floor, accessible via a lift that only goes up to the 7th. To reach the main area, you'll need to navigate two flights of stairs. Getting to the rooftop involves a series of steps leading to the mezzanine and then to the terrace, making it less suitable for those with mobility challenges. Parking If you're driving, free valet parking is available right outside on the main road. During both visits, we had a rental car, so our driver had to find a spot to park nearby and pay. Service If you are able to quickly shake off non-smiling, high & mighty aura of hostesses, the service staff inside were friendly and accommodating. On Day 2, we were served by Sanjiv and Souvik, who were very pleasant and helpful. A special shoutout to them for enhancing...

An Elevated Experience: Dining Above the City of Joy! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you're looking for a dining experience that combines exquisite food with mesmerizing views, #Hastag is the place to be. Perched atop the city, this rooftop gem offers an unparalleled view of Kolkata's vibrant cityscape, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists. Ambiance and View: The ambiance is nothing short of magical. From the twinkling city lights to the iconic sights like St Paul Church, Victoria Memorial, Vidyasagar Setu, 42 the view alone is worth the visit. Whether you're watching a golden sunset or enjoying the cool breeze under a starry night sky, the setting is perfect for every occasion. The décor is chic and contemporary, enhancing the overall luxurious feel. Culinary Delights: Every dish we tried was a culinary triumph, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The Jhol Momo was a standout—its taste and texture were simply divine. The variety ensures there's something for every palate, from rich curries to delectable appetizers and indulgent desserts. The bar menu is equally impressive, featuring creative cocktails and refreshing mocktails. Service: The staff were courteous, attentive, and ensured every detail of our evening was perfect. From recommending dishes to accommodating special requests, their professionalism added to the overall charm of the experience. Mr Abhishek is a special mention. He has a great photographic sense. He took some great snap of us😊. Overall Experience: #Hastag is a rooftop haven that offers the best of Kolkata on a plate and in a view. It's the perfect spot for romantic dates, celebrations, or simply unwinding with friends. I left with a happy heart, a full stomach, and a strong desire to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking to elevate their dining experience—literally and...

🚫 Disappointing Experience at Hashtag, Chowringhee Road, Kolkata 🚫

As a frequent patron of various establishments in Kolkata, I must express my profound disappointment with my recent visit to Hashtag on Chowringhee Road.

Upon arrival with a group of friends, we were excited to explore this new social hangout spot. However, our enthusiasm quickly turned into frustration when we encountered an arbitrary and discriminatory dress code policy at the entrance.

Despite being appropriately dressed for a casual outing, I was denied entry solely because I was wearing sandals. Yes, you read that correctly – sandals. The bouncer cited a vague "management reserves the right of entry" rule without providing any reasonable justification.

This incident reeks of elitism and cultural insensitivity. As a resident of Kolkata, I am well aware that sandals are a common and accepted form of footwear, especially in our warm climate. To be turned away for such a trivial reason is not only insulting but also reflects poorly on the inclusivity and hospitality purportedly championed by Hashtag.

I urge the management of Hashtag to reconsider their discriminatory policies and strive to create a welcoming environment for all patrons, regardless of their attire. Discrimination has no place in our society, and establishments like Hashtag should be held accountable for perpetuating such harmful practices.

Until concrete steps are taken to address these issues, I cannot in good conscience recommend Hashtag to fellow residents and visitors of Kolkata.

Firstly Very disappointed with the level of hospitality and unpleasant welcome by the PR team Their behaviour has turned the mode for us in the beginning itself. Being an entry level staff owner attitude is not expected. While we checked in coverage charge was asked we paid though it could be seen that coverage charge was only for selective customers. Why such disparity ? I guess it's because our faces showed that we are cheap? Second Food : chicken platter was good, prawn was absolute rubbish none could eat. Third : drinks were served after 30mins of food and when asked waiter it seems he forgot the order another example of unprofessionalism Fourth Even in restaurants where it's 1200 for two their even waiter gets the beer checked for temperature with customer . And here u r charging so high as 3000 for couple and yet not a decency in service Fifth : finally while checking out we were billed coverage charge plus extra what we had. It's so unprofessional that when u provide a coverage voucher none comes to check whether it's redeemable or payable. Is it customer duty again to present. Why don't u simple deliver the order and we can enjoy the food and drinks at home then Rooftop ambience was pathetic and we all four just were set to off mode Ambience inside was good , so i recommend you make some mods to rooftop and don't charge so much as if it's worth the hype.. It's not worth the hype or tide! By the manager I have been given the void receipt which we will be credited after 3 working days. Seems we have been special ones to be attracted towards double bill. Never walking to that venue again .. never!!

Hadhtag Bar and Restaurant in Kolkata is a very popular and happening place that offers a fantastic dining experience. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the trendy and vibrant ambiance. The decor is modern yet cozy, making it a perfect spot for both casual outings and special occasions. My recent visit was exceptional. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring that all our needs were met promptly. The menu is diverse, with a wide range of options to suit different tastes. I decided to try their signature cocktails, and they did not disappoint – they were expertly crafted and delicious. The food was another highlight. I ordered a mix of appetizers and mains, including the crispy chicken wings and the pasta, both of which were cooked to perfection. The flavors were spot-on, and the presentation was impressive. One of the standout features of Hadhtag is the Victoria Deck. This outdoor seating area provides stunning views of the city skyline, especially at night. It’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the evening with friends or family. The ambiance on the deck is elevated by the city lights, making it a truly memorable experience. What sets Hadhtag apart is the live music. It added a lively vibe to the evening and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The crowd was a good mix of people, creating a lively yet comfortable atmosphere. Overall, Hadhtag Bar and Restaurant exceeded my expectations. The combination of excellent service, delicious food, the Victoria Deck, and an amazing city skyline makes it a must-visit in Kolkata. I look forward to returning soon!

This place is just amazing in terms of food, ambience, service, taking instagrammable photos and videos. The location is easily accessible. Cab services will take you directly infront of the building and if you take the metro you have to walk for a bit around 7 to 8 mins. Get down at tge rabindra sadan metro outlet near exide more and walk straight towards maidan keeping the haldiram store on your right. The place is situated at 50, chowringhee road, which will fall on the right side, just beside the petrol pump before the shakespeare sarani crossing. Enter the building and take a lift to the 7th floor and the last floor you have to climb up. The ambience is top notch. The space is huge. The entrance is aesthetically decorated with its chandeliers and floorings making a good spot for photo. After you enter the lower area is sprawling and since we visited for lunch it was quite empty. We preferred sitting in the upper area which was lovely. The roof top is one of the best attractions of the place giving a magnificent view of the cathedral, victoria memorial, and The 42. Though sitting was not allowed due to scorching heat outside we took ample photos and videos. Coming to service, it was prompt, they were very good with their words and guided us perfectly with the choice of dishes. The food was good too and filling. Overall a very nice place which is definitely worth a visit more than once.
