WORST WORST WORST.... yesterday we reached Kasturi Jadavpur to dine on the very precious day JAMAI SASTHI... The place had 6 table with 6 person capacity each. When we entered, there were only one couple siting and whole area was empty., Waited for 15-20 mins to get the MENU card.. We ordered 1 plate fish finger, 1 fish batter fry, 2 MUTTON MINI THALI ( BHAAT, DAL, JHURI ALU BHAJA, 2 pcs MUTTON) and 2 CHICKEN MINI THALI ( BHAAT, DAL, JHURI ALU BHAJA, 2 pcs CHICKEN).
Waited for 1hr and after requesting and asking several times, their reply is "HOYE GECHE DICHI DICHHI"... A boy who took the order came and told our THALI is ready but starter will take time. So he told to have the THALI first and then he will bring starters later.
I was really shocked and other family members who were sitting beside us was laughing and also complaining. So we refused to take the THALI and after 15mins he gave FISH BATTER FRY and FIST FINGER... The food was horrible as the fish had very very bad smell and it was totally cold item.
So we complained again... The Boy replied.... "SORRY DADA AMADER PARCEL ORDER BESHI BOLE EKTU PROBLEM HOCHHE.. APNI BOLUN KI KORBO" And we literally saw huge number swiggy and zomato delivery person waiting outside.
So I took the manager's number and called 5 times for this kind of nuisance.. But MANAGER did not receive the call.
After 2 hrs around 10.05 pm, again the boy came with THALI items without the plates. AND again we got COLD FOOD.... EVERYTHING.... RICE, DAL, ALU BHAJA, MUTTON.... All items were cold.. None was bothered to reply.. So we requested to parcel our food.
They ultimately deducted few items amount from the bill.
BUTTTTT.... we went there with a very fresh mood and to have good food paying full amount whatever it is... All went wrong...
This is a very bad service If you concentrate of ONLINE ORDERS... PLZZZZ CLOSE THE SITTING ARRANGEMENTS.. OTHERWISE PLZ TRY TO VALUE YOUR CUSTOMERS....
VERY VERY BAD EXPERIENCE IN...
Read moreKasturi Restaurant in Jadavpur, Kolkata, is a well-known spot for authentic Bengali cuisine, particularly focusing on Bangladeshi-style dishes. We went there for dining on their 31 st anniversary food offers.
The ambiance is simple and functional. It’s more of a no-frills, casual dining space that prioritizes food over decor. The seating is modest, and it has a typical bustling restaurant feel.
Their menu is reasonably priced, and portions are generous, making it a favorite among locals and students. The standout dish is often considered their Bhetki Paturi (fish wrapped in banana leaf and steamed with mustard), offering rich flavors and an authentic taste of Bengali culinary traditions.
The service was bit inconsistent because of crowd . The staff is courteous, and the food arrives relatively quickly, though there might be delays when the restaurant is crowded.
Overall, Kasturi Jadavpur is a go-to spot for anyone looking to enjoy hearty, flavorful, and authentic Bengali cuisine specially during food festivals and offers. While the ambiance is basic, the food quality and reasonable prices...
Read moreLate post!! So sometime back while discussing Bengali cuisine with my friends, somebody mentioned Kasturi. So one fine Saturday, my husband and I decided to give it a try, and boy, were we not impressed!!! We ordered- Shona moong daal with peas Steamed Rice Begun Bhaja Shukto Papad Rui Kalia Bhetki Paturi Pabda Bori begun diye Jhol, Kochu pata diye Chingri Bhapa. The moong daal was of the perfect consistency, and it went so well with the steamed rice. I am the only one in the family who likes Shukto, and so I had the entire plate to myself! I must say all those who didn't give it a try missed something great!! The Rui Kalia and the Pabda Jhol, both the fish dishes were quite appetizing. For dessert, we only had the chutney, and I must say it was quite delicious- the perfect blend of the dates, tamarind and aamshotti with cashews and raisins. The interiors is quaint with subtle decor. The staff could be a little more attentive, what with too many tables and too less servers. Other than that, just for pure Bengali...
