What is this ‘Dawat’ festival all about – It is about the most delicious and rare form of Kebab and Biriyani that you can get in this city of joyful food. Fish Hariyali Kebab – This beautiful basa preparation is infused with fresh coriander paste, green chilli paste, lemon and curd. It’s fantabulous and the photograph is enough to pull you towards this delightful dish. (Rs. 350/-) Kalmi Kebab – It is a Mughlai preparation. Chicken leg pieces are beautifully marinated with a hell lot of Indian Spices, stuffed with a lot of nuts and Chicken Keema and grilled till perfection. When you hold one end of this mighty tangdi and dip it in pudina chutney and finally chew one end of the soft kebab it is enough to soothe your soul. (Rs. 350/-) Lasooni Jhinga – The gorgeous prawns when coupled with cheese and garlic ends up in Khana Sutra’s special “Lasooni Jhinga”. This is a must try for all the prawn lovers. It is available in two variants Regular and Tiger. (Tiger Prawn Rs. 1000/-) Dahi ke Angare – The potato vegetable and curd stuffed Kebab will surely rock and roll your taste buds and as you bite this delicious kebab dahi and cheese will burst out of the kebab and fill your mouth. This flavorful kebab is simply supreme. (Rs. 300/-) Joojeh Kebab – This Iranian Delicacy is cooked over charcoal. The juicy chicken cubes are coated with cream saffron and spices which gives this delicacy a unique taste. (Rs. 350/-) Tandoori Moti – It is yet another delicacy of this festival. Stuffed with mushroom and marinated with cheese, cream, cashew nut paste and Indian Spices. (Rs. 300/-) Spinach Galawati – Who does not love the soft Galawati Kebab. This Lucknow based delicacy which is more prominent in its Chicken and Lamb Meat avatar, has got a vegetarian makeover. Spinach Galawati would surely impress “Popeye The Sailor Man” and many others. It is dipped in desi ghee and has a garlic flavor. (Rs. 250/-) Vegetarian Biriyani – The other important aspect of this festival is their amazing variety of Biriyani. From Lucknowi to Hyderabadi they have a lot to offer. Paneer Tikka Biriyani (Rs. 200/-) , Subz Dum Biriyani (Rs. 200/-) , Kathal Biriyani (Rs. 200/-) , Soya Kofta Biriyani (Rs. 200/-) are some of their offerings during this festival. It is served with Hyderabadi Burhani Raita and Mirch Ka Salan. Non Vegetarian Biriyani – Most of their Biriyani is available in Murgh and Mutton option. Lucknowi Biriyani, Nuzami Biriyani, Malabari Biriyani, Sufiyana Biriyani, Kolkata Biriyani. The Murgh variant costs Rs. 275/- and Mutton costs Rs. 325/- They also have Malabari Fish Biriyani which costs Rs. 300/- and Jhinga Dum Biriyani costs Rs. 500/- Which ever Biriyani you order it is served with Burhani Raita and Mirch Ka Salan. Dessert – They have a lot of options starting from Sahi Kala Jamun (Rs. 150/-), Kesaria Phirni (Rs. 150/-), Gajar Ka Halwa (Rs. 150/-), Sahi Tukra (Rs. 150/-), Ice Cream of your choice (Rs. 150/-). Something familiar yet much different than the usual conventional recepies, this festival showcases a mouth-watering array of delicious preparations which are an amalgamation of Nizami , Awadhi and Mughlai cuisine. The restaurant itself doesn’t belong to the most popular places in town but surely has the potential to be one. It is time that they get their deserving appreciation.
Located just opposite to La Martiniere for boys school at Park Circus beck bagan crossing, its not at all difficult to find. Khanasutra is located on the first floor of this hotel and the entire property looks beautiful.

What to try ?
Malabari Murgh/ mutton biryani is definitely what you should try out first. The flavours of the south along with your very own biryani will definitely leave you crave for more. The Sufiyana Biryani is yet another notable mention which is make of milk and almond paste and is devoid of any chillies but yet is won’t fail to impress you. It is light and the mutton pieces in it leave a long lasting impression.
For the vegetarians there are plenty of options. Soya kofta Biryani, kathal biryani, khumb bori biryani , kala moti biryani , subz dum biryani, paneer tikka biryani. So there are more options in veg than in non veg which definitely talks about the skills of the chefs at Khanasutra. Biryanis come along with a salan.
From the kebabs section the mutton Koobdieh looked very tempting and delivered in terms of flavours as well. It has minced meat prepared in saffron and lime juice. The kalmi kebab was again impressive with tender chicken leg piece marinated with lots of spices and grilled to perfection. The Pomfret nawabi , another out of the box preparation was beautifully finished with lucknowi spices.
From the vegetarian section, vegetable Nizami kebab was heavenly impressive. Small circular veg kebabs made with seasoned vegetables and coated with poppy seeds and deep fried the poppy seeds acted as an additional layer of crispiness. The dehi ke angari will definable make you drool with its simplicity, made with potato and cream cheese this kebab was also a stand out.
From the desserts nolen gurer sahi tukda and gajar ka halka will take care of your sweet ending.
