Marbella's — Restaurant in Kolkata

The first thing that comes to my mind on visiting this cafe is that its elegant, sassy and Instagram worthy. The decor is beautiful even though its a small cafe. You can understand that the ambience is classy because offcourse its located in Elgin road. This place is behind forum courtyard. Lets come to the food. We ordered grilled fish (lemon butter sauce), beer battered prawns, chicken tenders and fresh lime soda. The taste of grilled fish is mind blowing, i cannot recollect if I ever had such good mashed potatoes in Kolkata. The fish was juicy and tender but well cooked. The beer batter prawns were delectable too.

Most of the people recommended chicken tenders but it wasn't that good compared to the other two dishes. The chicken tenders were like normal cutlets of boneless chicken and was accompanied by french fries. Honestly i liked the french fries more because it was really crispy even better than Mc Donalds. The dips were wow. It increased the taste of the dishes much more.

We liked the taste of the food very much. We thought of trying their shareable bowls, unfortunately we were full with the starters.

Pocket pinch for two is 2000. I would have given 5 star but marking it 4 due to the fact that its expensive.

Would recommend it visiting on weekdays to avoid rush as its a small cafe and you might need to wait in weekends. The service might seem little slow to few people like me. But it would be a perfect place to go on a date with your loved on to spend quality...

Food and Service

Classic cold brew - Served chilled in a wine glass, it's the strongest yet smoothest I've had. Cranberry espresso cooler - Staff pick for my final coffee of the day, and they offered a taster. New and refreshing but couldn't beat the cold brew. Vietnamese coffee instead - my actual final coffee order, just the right amount of sweet, strong and one time try. Chicken Caesar salad with pesto sauce - big portion, dominant Thai basil flavour, tender chicken. Chicken dumplings - just perfect, glass noodle salad on the side.

It took me much deliberation and many discussions with the staff before I placed my order. The staff was patient, attentive and quick. Placed the last order around closing time, no compromise on quality.

Ambience and mood

Good for work, long talks with friends and time with self. Variety of seating arrangements to pick from - sofa, comfy chairs, table facing the window and booth like setup. Space is divided into three different zones, so it doesn't get as noisy when full. Really cute decor - IG spam worthy The food and coffee kept me going for 5 hours of productivity, has multiple charging points.

Note for the next visit

A lot more coffee options to try on the menu. Fish and Chips - recommended by staff Flatbread pizza - looked incredible on the other table Waffle with eggs Benedict - don't see it...

I wish I could have not given a star and just left a review on the service offered by them. The items ordered by us were desserts, namely, Lemon Slice Cake and Creme Brulee Tart, Vietnamese Coffee, Macha, and some kind of Chicken Momos. The desserts were quite disappointing, it was just layers of sugar and being a sweet tooth it was too sweet for my taste, the tart was not even set well for serving, the Vietnamese cold coffee had milk instead of condensed milk, we had to explain them the method of how that is actually made and then was served with condensed milk. The momos served to us had eye lash hair. The staff is not well aware as to how a situation has to be handled and only asked us if we wanted out food to be changed, instead of understanding our point, we obviously did not get the food changed, as our purpose of not getting free or extra food but hygiene. When the staff approached their manager and addressed the issue, he was asked to ignore the entire matter, and was simply asked to hand over the bill to us. We did pay the entire amount, but in short, the experience was really bad and no one was sensible enough to take the issue seriously, and yes this was not our first experience at this place but yes leaving a review was important for the management to take serious steps with the ingredients used for their items and...
