The one and ONLY B Bhagat Tarachand you need to visit in the area. Everything else fades in comparison to this one. No need to get confused which BBT is authentic or which one is real. This is the only real BBT as far as we are concerned.
Situated next to the Mumbadevi Temple, this place has always been in our hearts and minds ever since I was a kid. Every time we used to visit Mumbadevi Maa for darshan, our next stop has always been this place. Despite all the chaos and rush inherently present in the area, eating their Thali sort of just makes you forget about everything else.
We always go for their Special Thali that comes with a wide variety of dishes but you can also order à la carte dishes from the menu and they're just as good. The Thali is something else, though. There's Daal, Chhole, a Paneer dish, a Seasonal Vegetable dish, appetizer, raita, 3 amazing chapatis (for real, nothing beats their butter chapatis), rice/pulao, a sweet, and chhaas. The portion is big enough to satisfy a heavy eater's appetite or can even be shared between people. The Thali is not unlimited in terms of chapatis and rice and maybe even sweets, but you ask for more gravies and daal for sure. The staff is very polite. There's always a rush in the area but you can easily find a seat here since the establishment is about four floors high. Even when it comes to waiting, it's not more than 15-20 mins max.
Going on an empty stomach is advisable since eat the thali is a feast. Prices are very reasonable in terms of the size of Thali. I thinks it's about ₹300/- for the Non-AC menu and ₹425/- for the AC menu for Special Thali. Other dishes are reasonably priced as well but seriously though, if you're not here for the Thali then you're here for the wrong reasons. Don't forget to visit the Mandir first. It's right next to the establishment and an added bonus. The Mandir is really delightful and very rewarding if you're a believer. The Prasad you can buy in the Mandir is also crazy delicious. That's a small secret for anyone who had read so far. Do try the Prasad. You won't be disappointed.
I recommend going during lunch time for the best experience. If you've read so far, please consider liking if you found the review helpful. Thank you...

There are a few branches in the same lane, but this one — right at the dead end next to Shukla Pan Centre — has always been my favourite. You climb up a small staircase leading to the AC hall — the moment you step in, the familiar aroma makes you feel right at home.
I’ve been visiting this place for years and still can never get enough of it. This time, I went with my wife for lunch and we relished a comforting spread — Special Aloo Gobi MTR, Kurkuri Bhindi, Dal Fry, Special Butter Chapati, Jeera Rice, Bundi Raita, Masala Papad, and of course, their famous Chaas Bottle.
The Kurkuri Bhindi was the star — perfectly crisp, coated evenly with masala, and full of crunch in every bite. It’s one of those dishes you can enjoy even without rice or roti — light, flavourful, and addictive.
The Special Aloo Gobi Mutter was rich and satisfying — soft aloo and tender gobi cooked in a smooth, spiced gravy with just the right balance of flavour. Paired with their soft Butter Chapatis, it truly felt like comfort food at its best.
The Dal Fry here is another winner — aromatic tadka, silky texture, and that unmistakable homemade warmth. It pairs beautifully with their Jeera Rice, which is perfectly cooked, fragrant, and simple — exactly how it should be.
To cool it all down, the Bundi Raita adds a lovely refreshing touch — chilled curd, soft bundi, and a hint of salt and spice that balances the meal beautifully.
And then comes the real showstopper — their iconic Kutchi Chaas, served in a beer bottle. Thick, creamy, and masaledar, this buttermilk is something B. Bhagatchand Tarachand is truly known for. One bottle easily fills three glasses, and honestly, no meal here feels complete without it.
Round it off with a crisp Masala Papad, and you’ve got yourself the perfect traditional vegetarian lunch — simple, flavourful, and deeply satisfying.
For me, B. Bhagatchand Tarachand has always stood for simple vegetarian food, consistent taste, and that familiar homely warmth that keeps drawing you back,...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Mumbai's Zaveri Bazaar at B Bhagat Tarachand, and the experience was much better than I had anticipated. This restaurant, which is tucked away in the busy Mumbadevi Area, is a real find for anyone looking for tasty and authentic Indian vegetarian food. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming as soon as I walked in. The elegant yet understated decor perfectly accentuates the establishment's rich history. Every guest was made to feel welcome and cared for by the amiable and attentive staff. B Bhagat Tarachand's menu is extensive, with a wide range of dishes to suit a variety of palates and preferences. I began with the traditional Papad Churi, a tasty and crispy appetizer that set the mood for the rest of the meal. The paneer pieces in the Paneer Butter Masala were cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth, making it rich and creamy. A staple that was perfectly seasoned and provided a cozy and filling experience was Dal Tadka. A standout dish of the dinner was the Phulka Roti, which came with an abundance of ghee on top. These tender, fluffy rotis were the ideal side dish for the curries. The Chaas, or buttermilk, was a cool beverage that was ideal for counterbalancing the dishes' strong spices. The fine ingredients and meticulous attention to detail are what really distinguish B Bhagat Tarachand. Every dish had the impression of having been lovingly prepared, perfectly encapsulating the essence of traditional Indian cuisine. Taking into account the quantity and quality of food provided, the prices are fair. B Bhagat Tarachand in Zaveri Bazaar is a must-visit for anyone wishing to savor the authentic tastes of Mumbai in a cozy and inviting environment. My palate was pleased as I departed the restaurant, and I made a plan to...
