Situated in Kamla mills compound, this outlet of Wok Express serving a range of Asian food resonates with shades of black and brown with its use of granite and wood in the furnishings. Simple yet warm! The place can accommodate upto twenty five people in one time however the low stools and tables in the centre are not as spaced out as the high stools on the side and it thus becomes a bit difficult to move around.
Coming to the food, we began with the Chilli Paneer Bao which was in our opinion the best dish of all that we reviewed. Sweet steamed Chinese buns that are "as soft as the cloud" filled with truly "melt in the mouth" cottage cheese cubes tossed with whole green chillies that lends the spice to the sweet bao. Recommended!
Among the Japanese stuff, we tried the newly introduced Veg Schezwan Sushi that had seven sweet and sour rice rolls filled with mix veggies like carrots and green bell peppers, topped with spicy schezwan chutney. Served with wasabi and pickled ginger strips, this one is a burst of flavours!
From the appetizers we had the Kung Pao Potato and the newly introduced Pepper Garlic Paneer. While the former had unpeeled baby potatoes tossed in sweet Kung Pao sauce along with cashews to add some crunch, as well as spring onions and dry red chillies, we would suggest having the Pepper Garlic Paneer that had a smoky flavour with chewy cottage cheese cubes sauteed along with mix bell peppers and onions.
In the main course we tried the Exotic Veggies in Chilli Soya Sauce with Burnt Garlic Rice. The sauce came with a whole lot of mushrooms, broccoli, zucchini, yellow bell peppers and pak choy that went well with the otherwise dull garlic rice as it had no burnt flavour. We gave our feedback for the same and they have promised to work on this one.
The Wok can either be personalised or you can choose from the pre-set Chef recommended options available in case you can't decide or have no time to wrack your head for the same. I made my own personal wok with a base of Flat Wheat Noodles since the healthier Wheat Soba noodles weren't available then. Veggies including carrots, french beans, broccoli and tofu as protein were tossed in with the red chilli pepper sauce, topped with condiments like fried onion, crushed peanuts and fresh cilantro to complete my Wok. It's a meal in itself and the best option for a quick on-the-go lunch!
The quantity for this, as well as the other things we had is very good and the ingredients are fresh. They are honest if something isn't available and that's what good brands are about.
My only disappointment apart from the garlic rice was the desserts. I have been associated with Wok Express since it first opened in Bandra and for more than two years now they still have no eggless dessert options. I would really appreciate if they could introduce a veg version of their popular Fortune Cookie. We had to end half-heartedly with the Very Berry Strawberry ice cream from...

Following were the delicacies I tried from their menu #Bubble Tea According to them, the name was derived from a drink from Taiwan. From many options available I went for #Mango Basil Indian Raw Mango along with basil was just perfect, in addition, they have used Tapioca Pearls which made it unique. Had a different taste in every sip. #Dumplings Steamed dough stuffed with tasty flavors. They had many options from which I had ◆Aromatic Chicken Dumpling The steamed dough was nicely steamed hence was very fluffy and soft to chew and filled with chicken which even more softer as it was nicely cooked The whole was very well presented and served with their own Chinese flavored dip. Must Try #Sushi A very popular Chinese dish which has a roll made up of steamed sweet & sour rice filled with different fillings according to one's choice. Wok express too had many filling options including veg, chicken, and fish from which I went for ◆Fish Schezwan Roll A sushi where rice was very well steamed and rolled properly and filled with steamed Basa fish was very unique in its taste and topped with schezwan dip and it was served with the Chinese soy sauce as a dip which added tangy flavor to it. The sushi was very well presented in a queue and decorated excellently. #Appetizer ◆Fish Peri-Peri The small pieces of fresh Basa Fish was properly marinated, fried and then tossed in a Chinese flavored sauce was soft from inside and crispier outside. #Chicken Wings The Chicken wings again with the variety of sauces from which I had ◆Indonesian Sweet and sour The delicacy surprised me a lot as I had always thought of wings to be hot and spicy but after trying this I had a different opinion in my mind about the wings that it can even have different flavours #Wok Box ◆Talking about the wok box it is like a meal for a person which can satisfy the hunger along with making your taste bud happy..They even had Pre-set wok boxes with a lot of options and also the customizable ones from which I went on and customized mine own wok box in 4 simple steps stated by them as following To select Base 2.vegetables and Protein 3.sauce 4.Condiments They also provide an option for additional add-ons in vegetables and Chicken/fish These 4 steps helped me customizing mine own wok box according to my own choices of taste. Read moreWOK Express has always been our favorite and we have been visiting this place a lot now. Today was one of the days when our cravings for Asian and Chinese food was at its peak, so we decided to head to our favorite place. Wok express has not disappointed us till now. Love their service. it is very prompt. Staff is friendly. Prices of the dishes are reasonable.
Here's what we had on our visit:
Mango Basil Ice Tea: This has been our favorite drink from start. It is just so refreshing with a hint of tangy taste.
Chicken Sriracha Surprise Dumpling: We were not a fan of dumplings but this one didn't fail to impress us. The filling was of spicy chicken.
Schezwan Paneer: Vegetarians this might be the dish you would opt for always. Paneer pieces tossed in schezwan sauce made a delicious appetizer. It had a hint of sweetness to it not much.
Spicy Garlic Chicken: This has to be the best thing that we had today. It was simply the best. Chicken pieces tossed in spicy garlic sauce. Flavors were just amazing.
Schezwan Chicken Wings: Chicken wings were just delicious, there's no need to describe. Very delicious.
Chicken Burnt Garlic Rice: Their burnt garlic rice only has an amazing taste and aroma. The chicken just adds more beauty and flavor to it.
Chilli Basil with Steamed Rice Wok Box: When in doubt go for the chef's special wok box. This one was super spicy but we loved it. It consisted of several veggies. It was a healthy wok box.
Salted Caramel: To cut down the spiciness of Wok box we ordered this milky shake. We are in love with it.
9: Almond Brittle: It is their latest addition to desserts menu. It is basically a chocolate consisting of a lot of almonds.
This has been our favorite place and always be.
Must Try: Mango Basil Ice Tea, Spicy Garlic Chicken, Schezwan Chicken Wings, Chicken Burnt Garlic Rice, Almond Brittle.
