It's with a heavy heart that I have to give 2 stars to a restaurant which was one of my favourites earlier on. Before the restaurant was located on SV Road Opposite Dynasty restaurant and everything was top class. It was one of those restaurants where we visited every weekend and it was always full so we had to wait 15 to 20 mins to get a table, and it was worth the wait.
So after around a decade I decided to revisit this restaurant for nostalgia and to try their iconic starters which made me drool earlier on.
So they are having two outlets now Jogeshwari and Khar, I visited the Khar outlet and was happy to see the restaurant maintaining their yellow and red colour theme. I was the only one present in their restaurant and was greeted by Akshay the person managing this outlet.
After requesting that I wish to try 2 dishes he was kind enough to give me 1/2 portion of my favourite Chicken Lollipop Hakka Style and Full portion of Crispy Spinach Chicken.
As soon as the lollipops were served the aroma transported me to the old era it was so beautiful and they have done well to maintain their taste as it was before.
But now comes the sad part, I got a piece of plastic spoon in my mouth while having the dish and was angry, disappointed and sad. I was advised by some of my friends that I should avoid the restaurant as it's not maintained the same way like before, but still I decided to try and I was like this is the end of Fatkongs for me.
I requested the Manager to not charge me for this dish and speak to the owner regarding this but he was helpless and they decided not to take away the charges.
Even though this incident took place I still ate the second dish Crispy Spinach Chicken, but it was nowhere close to the one which I used to eat before. The spinach didn't seem fresh and the chicken had a thick coating and wasn't good. So with a heavy heart I left the restaurant putting down a message to the owner who did give me a call and tried to give explanation and reasoning, though admitting that it wasn't right. But somehow I didn't feel like trying this...

Crispy Chicken: This dish was a knockout. The chicken pieces were perfectly battered—thin, golden, and fried to a shatteringly crisp texture. The outside had that addictive crunch, while the inside stayed juicy and tender. Tossed in a sticky, mildly spicy glaze with hints of garlic, soy, and chili, it was garnished with spring onions and sesame seeds, making it hard to stop at just one piece.
Chicken Triple Rice & Schezwan Noodles: The Chicken Triple Rice was a full-on flavor bomb—a mix of fried rice and schezwan gravy poured generously on top, loaded with chopped veggies, chicken chunks, and a fried egg to top it all off. It was hearty, spicy, and soul-satisfying in that uniquely desi-Chinese way.
The Schezwan Noodles had a perfect wok-char (you know that smoky “wok hei” touch), with the right chewiness and a punchy garlic-chili flavor that didn’t overpower. Again, the chicken pieces were soft and well-seasoned, blending nicely with the heat of the schezwan sauce and the crunch of...
Read moreI have always loved the Chinese food from Fat Kong restaurant and that is because the food is always tasty.
Their chicken lollipops was one of my favourites but sadly when I ordered the chicken lollipops today , it was mostly fried batter on the bone.
I had ordered the lollipops for my guests, only for my guests to tell me from where did I get just horrible lollipops . They complained stating that there was hardly any meat on the bone .
I never ever thought that Fat Kong would do such a thing . Because of which my guests didn't like the lollipops and in turn it kind of killed the mood of my special day.
Disappointed and...
