We had been wanting to try this seafood place for a long time, and with Easter and my birthday week coinciding, we thought it was the perfect time to finally go. What a colossal disappointment it turned out to be.
My dad is diabetic and needs to eat exactly 30 minutes after his insulin shot—so we planned ahead. We called the restaurant to request a reservation or, at the very least, to be put on a waitlist so we wouldn’t face delays upon arrival. The person on the phone curtly informed us they don’t take reservations. When we asked if there would be any wait, he said just 15 minutes. We explained the medical urgency and requested to be added to the waitlist since we were just 20 minutes away. The response? “First come to the restaurant, then we’ll see what can be done.” No concern, no willingness to help—just that robotic, indifferent line.
We called again just 5 minutes before reaching—same story. Come here first, then we’ll talk. At this point, we were a bit annoyed but still gave them the benefit of the doubt.
But when we arrived, we were greeted with the sight of 5-6 families already waiting. We approached the manager thinking he’d be more sensible. But no—he was even worse. No acknowledgment of our earlier calls, no apology. Just a cold, “You’ll have to wait.” When asked for an approximate wait time, he casually said 40–50 minutes. When we questioned why we weren’t told this on the phone, especially after explicitly mentioning my dad’s health condition, he rudely dismissed us and said, “Try the hotel next door.” Which was the final straw—because there is no hotel next door. The nearest restaurant was 2.5 km away.
If we had known the reality, we would have gone elsewhere much earlier. Instead, we were misled, disrespected, and made to feel like a nuisance for simply trying to manage a basic medical need with courtesy and planning.
This place clearly has zero regard for customer service or empathy. It’s not just disappointing—it’s infuriating. Never returning, and I strongly urge others to think twice before wasting...
Read moreWent here based on the reviews. I don't know if we went on an off day or if there was a problem in the kitchen but our food experience was not good at all.
Ambiance is nice. No complaints. - 3.5/5
Service is nice. No complaints. The waiter recommended a few things very clearly. Food was promptly brought out. Water was refilled without asking. - 3.5/5
Food - 2.5/5. Subpar experience overall. We ordered: Solkadi - 2.5/5 Crab soup - 2.5/5 Crab Lollipops - 2.5/5 Tiger Prawn in Chef's Special Sauce - 2.5/5 Neer dosa - 3/5 Rice bhakri - 3.5/5 Kharvas - 3.5/5
Sol kadi - a lot of ginger in it. It hit too hard and lingered. Good if you have a cold but not if you want to be refreshed. Needed to drink water to be able to enjoy the flavors of the soup we ordered.
Crab soup - not bad; I'd have preferred a soup made of whole crabs and which emphasized the crab flavor. Wish it didn't have strips of imitation crab in it (see pics).
Coconut onion garlic chutney. Was informed what it was when I asked. I didn't quite understand how to use when it was served with the soup. Tried a bit by itself - didn't like it but my dining partner did. I tried it with the soup and it didn't do much for me.
Crab Lollipops. We'd asked if these contained imitation crab meat or real crab meat and were told it was real crab. Looking into the meat we saw flecks of the colored portion of artificial crab meat (see pics - real crab meat is white, not red/pink). Not bad, tastewise, but my mood was soured.
Tiger Prawn in Chef's Special sauce - sauce was great. The prawn body was overcooked and had become stringy. The prawn head (which should traditionally be cooked in the same sauce) was undercooked, bland, and did not taste fresh at all. Also, it is literally one prawn for Rs.1350.
Neer dosa - nice. Regular neer dosa.
Rice bhakri - very nice. Better for soaking up the gravy than the neer dosa.
Kharvas - nice....
Read moreAmbience is ok. There is no restroom. Tables are too close to each other and it got very noisy. Now the food . We were 2 of us and ordered prawns Bhujane 450 , prawns garlic fry 450 , Pomfret thali 770, prawns biryani 450 and gulab jamun 130. Plus taxes Both starters dint have any salt at all. The prawns bhujane was in coconut base size of prawns was good but they dint pick any flavor from the non spicy masala this inspite of me asking the server for a medium spicy starter. A big let down and easily avoidable. generally a bhujane is in tomato onion thick masala . The prawns garlic fry again had zero salt. The garlic were tiny and had too much covering less of garlic. Size of prawns was below average. Easily avoidable dish. The Pomfret was below average again no salt in the marination of rawa masala. Size of Pomfret was below average. Hardly any meat to eat. Extremely overpriced at 770 plus tax. The fish gravy is nothing to rave about just about average. Easily avoidable . Prawns biryani was good made in ghee. Had good prawns. Only saving grace of the entire meal. Gulab jamuns were good 1 plate has 3 pieces for 130 plus taxes. Total bill was 2326 not worth. Won't visit again . The service was not good as the waiter was confused , dint suggest properly, no water refills, no attention to our pending order. 2 stars are for prawns biryani and gulab jamun. And one more thing we had ordered 2 sol kadhis which never arrived and we dint bother to remind them either as the server was least interested in attending to our table. When we asked for crab meat soup he said they dint have it , he dint bother to suggest us to take...
