5-Star Review for Tamnak Thai, Dadar Shivaji Park
Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)
Tamnak Thai in Dadar Shivaji Park, Mumbai, has solidified its place as my absolute favorite Thai restaurant after multiple delightful visits, with my latest being on September 1, 2025. Nestled on Veer Savarkar Marg opposite Starbucks, this spot offers an authentic Thai escape with its warm, oriental ambiance—think elegant sculptures, soft lighting, and spacious seating that feels like a trip to Bangkok. The staff, including our attentive server who expertly guided us through the menu, delivered courteous and efficient service, enhancing the cozy in-house experience at Table No. 5. The absence of a service charge is a thoughtful bonus in Mumbai’s dining scene. Our meal began with refreshing drinks that set the tone perfectly. The Cinderella mocktail (₹460) was a delightful blend of tropical fruitiness with a fizzy twist—light, sweet, and utterly refreshing. Paired with it, the Himalayan mineral water (₹140 per bottle, 2 bottles at ₹280 total) offered a crisp, pure hydration that complemented the flavors ahead. The Iced Tea (₹240) brought a chilled, subtly sweet note, while the Kiwi Kooler (₹460) burst with fresh kiwi and a tropical fizz, and the Virgin Mojito (₹460) delivered a classic minty-lime zing—each generously portioned and served promptly. For appetizers, the Phad Khi-Mao Kung (stir-fried prawns with basil and chilies, ₹1040) was a spicy masterpiece, with juicy prawns and holy basil creating a bold, aromatic dish. The Satay Kai (chicken satay skewers, ₹860) featured tender, perfectly grilled meat with a creamy peanut sauce that balanced sweet and spicy notes flawlessly. Mains were a highlight, starting with the Tom Yam Kai (chicken Tom Yum soup, ₹520) and Tom Yam Kung (prawn version, ₹560), both tart and fragrant with lemongrass and chilies, warming us up delightfully. Pla Rad Phrik (fish in chili sauce, 2 portions at ₹980 each) offered crispy fillets in a tangy chili-garlic glaze, while Kaeang Phed Kai (red chicken curry, ₹780) was rich with coconut milk and tender chicken, paired with aromatic Khao Hom Mali (sticky rice, ₹380). The Koi Tiow Phad Thai Kai (Pad Thai noodles with chicken, ₹560) rounded it off with its sweet-tangy tamarind sauce and wide rice noodles, every dish arriving hot and fresh.
The total gross amount was ₹9120 before taxes, with CGST and SGST at 2.5% each (₹228 apiece), bringing the bill to around ₹9576—a fair price for the quality and authenticity. The fresh ingredients and genuine Thai flavors, honed over visits, make the cost worthwhile.
Tamnak Thai consistently delivers an explosive taste experience, seamless service, and a relaxing vibe. It’s my go-to for Thai cuisine in Mumbai, and I can’t wait to return. Highly...

Read moreA classic example of fine dining. We (myself and my wife) went there for dinner, and started with a non vegetarian appetizer- Kal Ho Bai Teui (marinated chicken wrapped in banana leaves). There were 8 pieces. It was authentic Thai, which after all is the reason why you would go to a Thai restaurant in the first place. The chicken was tender and mildly spicy. You can either have it plain or dip it in a garlic (spicy) sauce or sweet and sour sauce that is provided. Our main course menu was Khao Phad Ruam Mit (basicallymixed fried rice with shrimps) and Kaeng Kia Wan Kai (chicken green curry). The fried rice was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Coming from Kerala I didn't find the Chicken green curry very amusing as it tasted of coconut milk and reminded me of a coconut fish curry dish of ours, nevertheless, I would still recommend it as it was good. For dessert although we ordered for Woon Kathi (Coconut Custard) and Fak Thing Sang (Pumpkin custard with coconut tender), the latter was unavailable and had to settle for honey noodles with ice cream (not exactly an authentic Thai dessert). I did however really enjoy the coconut custard. This is a really good restaurant located in a busy area. The ambiance of the restaurant is excellent! Most of all the waiters were very professional and well mannered. The restaurant also serves alcohol. Expect the bill for two people to be anywhere between 2000 to 2500 Rs...
