Read moreI wanted to like this place and be a regular customer but I simply can't. Servers don't have an attitude problem by any means but management seems poor/incompetent. Absentee owner it seems. Common problem amongst these trendy establishments nowadays. Furthermore, the name of this place is TEA VILLA CAFE so I was horrified to learn that their "iced tea" is not actually made with any tea, merely ice and fruit flavoured syrup. When I requested the staff to make me an actual iced tea with real tea over ice they acted like it was impossible, gathered seven different employees to argue with me about it, and generally didn't seem to understand the concept of ICED TEA whatsoever. They kept giving me conflicting answers about whether the iced tea on their menu is actually iced tea or not but ultimately were honest that it's just fruit flavouring, ice, and water. Eventually they did make the iced tea I wanted after a lot of headache and arguing, making sure to inform me that they were doing me a huge personal favour by accommodating my request. Even tho I pass by this establishment every day I have to say that with misleading menu descriptions (iced "tea" that contains no tea?) and employees that don't even understand what is iced tea or how to accommodate simple personalised requests without turning it into a drama, this is ultimately not going to be my regular spot.
I tried this spot twice before reviewing, and although it's my second experience that led to the one star rating, my first time around was not great either. Several things I wanted to try were not available and I was not informed about the deletions when I was given the menu for consideration. Ordered an iced Americano but again the employees didn't seem to understand the concept of brewing a hot drink and serving it cold over ice, so they served my "iced americano" in a small coffee mug... after a 20 minute wait. Coffee quality was not great but it was ok. I was leery to go back after such a sub-standard experience the first time but the location is convenient for me so I tried it a second time, which I now regret.
During this last visit I asked for the owner's contact details to discuss the misleading description of "iced tea" to describe a cold drink that is actually nothing but fruit flavouring and ice water, but the employees on duty refused to share any name or contact details for the owner so that I could discuss my concerns.
Maybe if you only like hot drinks or are looking for someplace with nice ambiance to hang out with friends and eat/drink this place is fine, but personally based on my experiences with the inaccuracy of the menu & poor execution of service I can't...
Read moreTea Villa Cafe is one of the fastest growing chains in Mumbai city with more than 20 owned outlets and the expansion includes 500 Outlets Pan India and in the next 3 years they wish to have a worldwide presence. This outlet I visited is located at Hill Road, Bandra West and it serves a huge variety of high quality relaxing aromatic home made and international tea options along with desserts, beverages, Continental , Lebanese, Italian and Chinese cuisine. My purpose of visit was a corporate casual meet and we did settle in well. The service is very good, staff is friendly, attentive and quick. The ambience of this place is a highlight with high and low rise seating areas, some out of the box interiors, casual dining experience, with soothing color combinations and catchy horoscope frames, just in some places the tables are way too close for conversations. They even have a seating space upstairs which is also good.
Now coming to the food this is what I tried:
Chocolate Loaded Waffle Tea Villa Cafe
Chocolate loaded waffle: Rs 2505*/5 Layered with Belgian dark, milk and white chocolate. Freshly made hot waffles coated with thick melting white and dark chocolate , along with choco chips served with dip of white and dark melting chocolate. This one is really delicious and a must try. Highly recommended!
Death by Chocolate Cake Rs 250
5*/5
This place is really amazing for desserts. Had one of the finest Death by chocolate cake at Tea Villa.
Holy Detox – Caffeine free Rs 225
5*/5
Really soothing and relaxing tea , it comes with a 1 minute sand timer which allows the tea to steep. A blend of various super herbs such as tulsi (holy basil), spearmint, rose hips, lemon myrtle, and linden blossoms. From clear, citrus flavours to fresh minty aromas and a lingering floral after taste a throughout clean and bright blend . Green herb notes of Holy Basil and lemon myrtle are balanced with the depth and tartness of rosehips, the refreshing qualities of spearmint and the flowery flavour of linden blossoms all in harmony.
4.Oreo Shake : Rs 225
4*/5
This tasted like a normal shake and it had more of milky flavour than Oreo. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t extraordinary.
My Experience:
Taste: Delicious Price: Moderate to Expensive Quality: Amazing Quantity: Good Staff: Friendly Service: Quick Ambiance: Good Parking: Not Available (It's on the main road) Seating: Comfortable Food Presentation: Great! Overall Value for Money: 4.5*/5 For more reviews read blog...
