Read moreAt an overall 3.9 I feel this restaurant is underrated. It took a piece of my heart for the simplicity yet elegance (both in food and ambience). This was one of the rarest times healthy food felt healthy and mind you I didn't opt for any salad. Tried just 2 dishes on this first visit of mine but I can't stop praising them enough and Im definitely going back again... And again. Tried their sweet potato fries, comes with a dip so delicious you'll be surprised to discover its not even dairy but vegan. Inside scoop - a little chat with the waiter told us that the dip is made of cashews and lime, some seasoning and chilly flakes .. wallahh! Next up was Avacado on on ragi discs. My friend who hates avacados couldn't stop with this one after she ate one. Ambience is made of a small place. 2 tables inside and about 5 to 6 small ones outside. Cosy, comfortable and like a gem. Servers are friendly, they talk to you so you can ask them more about the food if you are keen. We asked for another round of just the dip and were given one without hesitation. Location is easy if you know St. Andrews church. It's actually tucked into a corner at the end of Hill road. Which is why you may love it more. Don't miss this one if you are eating healthy, yet craving, are in Bandra or what the heck! Just travel cos it's worth it. PS. I didn't try their desserts but the menu does boast of flourless gluten free cakes. Maybe...
Read moreWe were looking for a healthy, gluten-free cafe in Mumbai for a good lunch, and we came across The Village Shop. It’s a beautiful, tucked-away spot in the busy area of Bandra, offering incredibly fresh, organic food. We each ordered an avocado and cacao smoothie, which was amazing, and as luck would have it, we met the owners, Jennifer and Javid, who were so kind and explained all the different ingredients to us.
My wife, who is celiac, ordered a sandwich made with amaranth bread. Normally, she’s hesitant about sandwiches due to concerns about gluten contamination, but she felt completely comfortable here after they explained everything in detail. The whole place is designed with such care, and the food is incredibly delicious. The staff is warm and hospitable, creating a wonderful atmosphere.
If you’re into healthy food with fresh ingredients, I highly recommend visiting. They also have pizzas and other amazing dishes—I didn’t get a chance to try them this time, but they’re definitely on my list for next time. Thank you, Village Shop, for a...
