Udipi Refreshment — Restaurant in Mumbai

I went to Udipi with my friend today. I ordered few items and he ordered thali. He finished his rice and chapatis but left most of the items in the thali. He told me that they were not edible.

Before when we were deciding where to go for lunch he told me, there is no argument, in Ghatkoper, you simply go to Udipi.

Given his good experience in the past and the degradation of the quality of the food, he wanted to give the owner some feedback.

When the owner came to our table, my friend showed his plate and told him that he could not eat any of the curries. The owner simply raised his voice and told my friend point blank "if you don't like the food, don't come here!!!". My friend, his wife and I were totally shocked at the response. My friend had a verbal altercation but the owner was getting more aggressive and yelling at the top of his voice. The owner seemed more like a goon than the owner of an (allegedly) respectable restaurant. If the verbal back and forth had gone on any longer, it felt like the goon, er, I mean the owner would have resorted to physical violence.

As long as you eat whatever they serve, pay and leave quietly, you will be fine but if you have any grievances and want to talk to the owner, be prepared to be yelled at, humiliated and judging by his tone and body language, he might even beat you...

We found stones in chutney and sambhar , we had ordered mysore masala dosa but they served sada masala dosa, Upon asking the staff, He rudely said that it is similar we only add coconut chutney on dosa and add batata bhaji. The owner here is also the same as his emoloyees, We regret to have our lunch here at udupi and there is no value for money given here at udupi, no customer satisfaction just a source of money to come thats it, they charge too much for the quality of food they are serving, but we regret to say there is no quality in there food. Regreted visiting here, instead we recommend visiting at Rameshwaram cafe which serves excellent south indian cuisine.... nearby ghatkoper railway station Udupi Refreshment - Worst expirence...total waste of money❌❌❌, no value for customer, service here is also poor, we asked for filter coffee, after finishing our dosa and the dish we ordered (idli dosa), the filter coffee didnot came, dont know whom to blame forr this, if you have any suggestions you can do it...

This Udipi Restaurant on MG road is a great find. A very kind auto man in Ghatkopar told me about it. Went there for a quick bite and they didn’t have a full menu as the other chef comes in at 6pm. The daal vada is simply delicious and goes very well with coconut and green chutney (all freshly made). Next up I had sabudana vada (fast wala) and that too was delicious with mosambi juice (no ice and no sugar). Everything is made fresh up and no fuss and gloss. It is just outstanding and has a very simple look. But don’t be fooled, the food is amazing. Can’t wait to find an excuse to head back there on my way back from IKEA. It would be great to hear from everyone reading as to their suggestions on what to eat....
