Daryaganj opened their doors first to Aerocity and now in Connaught Place. If you have ever tasted Old Delhi Delicacies then the will make you feel in love with them once again. A Cosy dining Hall with Old props and tastefully done classic wooden interiors give you a comfortable and home feel. You will enjoy the best old music numbers that will make your experience even more Nostalgic. The staff greets you with warmth and were helpful to suggest their specials.
It's a newly opened property so Cocktails were not available, but we didn't miss any as their mocktails were Refreshing and yum too. A Must Try drink here is KHEERA SHIKANJI that is simply Amazing. Made from Fresh Cucumber juice and Original Lemonade, this drink tastes divine. I was compelled to order one more with Main course.
Their Menu is tempting and has best dishes that exist in Indian Legacy. We tried their:
Tandoori Fruit Chaat: Being A Chaat lover, Old Delhi streets have given us the best Chaat bites and this one was simply amazing. Chargrilled Cucumber, tomato and green apple filled up with delicious tangy and mildly spiced filling took my palette to an Appetizing and Delectable journey. This is a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED here.
Kurkure Mushrooms: Another MUST MUST TRY dish here which looks beautiful and tastes Amazing. Batter fried Triple mushrooms layers with a creamy filling is a treat for vegetarians. This was WOW!!
Coming down the Main course, we simply wanted to try their non-vegetarian delights and ordered all 3 favorite.
Saag Meat: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for those who love Saag flavors combined beautifully with softest and tender lamb beat. This was one Delectable dish that made us lick our fingers. The meat just melted in mouth and that saag was to die for.
Kadai Jhinga: I love Seafood and this is one of the best Prawn in curries I had since ages. The Khadda Kadai masala was itself so delicious and when smeared with Fresh prawns, you would not like to stop before you finish it all. This is a BLISS for seafood Lovers.
Authentic Rustic Butter Chicken: From the origin of Butter Chicken, you will love this one for sure. The Masalas have been stone grounded so that you get coarse rich and flavorful base that smears Grilled chicken pieces beautifully. I somehow don't like smooth velvety and creamy gravies and this one is What I would say is BEST and Authentic BUTTER CHICKEN around.
Coming down to desserts, they have nailed the taste too.
Their Bailey's and Kesar Kulfi are a must try. You will rejoice every bite and won't stop till you polished it all. Served in a non-drip packing, these was Delectable.
Overall, Authentic to the Core, you will feel the same taste, flavors and colors that still exists in food lanes of Daryaganj. The Warmth and courteous hospitality adds to the Original touch of Indian Values and Serving the guest with a smile and love. We are so gonna Visit here again and enjoy the much loved flavors and hospitality of Old...
Read moreI visited the new branch of Daryaganj Restaurant in Connaught Place recently, and I must say it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. I had heard a lot about their original restaurant, so I was really excited to try this new location. But from the moment we entered, things started going downhill.
First of all, the staff was completely unprofessional. We had to wait for almost 15 minutes before someone even came to take our order. When we asked for water, they ignored us for a long time and didn’t seem interested in helping. The service was extremely slow and careless. No one smiled, no one checked on our table, and we felt completely ignored throughout the meal.
Now coming to the food – it was just pathetic. We ordered a few North Indian dishes and some starters, and nothing tasted good. The dal was too salty, the starters were cold and oily, and the naan was hard like rubber. It honestly felt like the food had been reheated instead of freshly prepared. There was no flavour, no freshness, and nothing worth remembering.
Even the presentation was poor. The plates were dirty, and the food looked unappetizing. We had changed glasses of water thrice to get a clean glass For the prices they are charging, the quality was absolutely unacceptable.
The ambience was also loud and chaotic. It didn’t feel like a premium dining experience at all. We left the restaurant feeling cheated and completely unsatisfied.
I had expected much better from such a well-known brand, but this new branch in Connaught Place is a big letdown. I will not be visiting again, and I do not recommend it to anyone. Save your money and go somewhere else where they actually care about food...
Read moreFinally I get to visit the iconic Daryaganj - By The Inventors Of Butter Chicken And Dal Makhani restaurant during my last visit to New Delhi. As usual I did my research about the place before visiting and I was intrigued with the history about Daryaganj.
Had been to the Connaught Place branch with my sister last Sunday for dinner. We were greeted well and was directed to an empty table. Straight away jumped to place the order and we didn't want to fill out stomach with appetizers/starters so order main course. We actually didn't had to look at the menu and ordered The Original 1947 Butter Chicken, The Original 1947 Dal Makhani and some assorted breads to go with the chicken and dal makhani. The food arrived in quick time and we tucked into straight away without wasting a single second. Delicious Dal Makhani, and even more delicious Butter Chicken. The gravy of the Butter Chicken was a next level dish. The assorted bread went very well with the Dal and Chicken. Do try the Hari Mirchi Parantha with Chicken. The food was not at all heavy and at the end we felt that it was a sumptuous dinner.
Kudos to the inventor of the The Original 1947 Butter Chicken, The Original 1947 Dal Makhani - Kundan Lal Jaggi Ji for creating the most delicious Butter chicken I have even had until now. Thanks to the founders of Daryaganj - Raghav Jaggi and Amit Bagga for bringing us the history. Well done to the entire team of Daryaganj. Will definitely visit the restaurant again in my next trip to New Delhi. "Hoping to see a branch soon here in Bangalore"
This review is straight from my stomach, very happy to share my thoughts about my food experience.
A must visit for all...
