Read moreSorry to say but the restaurant did not live upto our expectations. My sister n I were eager to try Japanese food n pinned down on Fuji based on the avg ratings/feedbacks given on Google Review. But it was a major let down. Not only the food portions were insufficient (for the price charged) but the service was very slow as well. They routinely forgot to serve us basic needs like water or extra bowls. We had to specifically ask for water. And when the waitress did so, she served only one glass. I had to specifically ask for one more. Don't they serve water in Japanese restaurants? Being new to Japanese cuisine we requested the guy taking our orders to help us with the menu. But he himself seemed lost and didn't seem very knowledgeable abt the cuisine. Ended up ordering a kind of rice beer we didn't want - I think he didn't understand our requirement.
We eventually selected a platter n before ordering, specifically asked if it would be sufficient for two persons. But the portions were a major let down. Some vegetables sauté n salad, small bowl of rice, soup n sushi.. all in very small portions. This is India come on n your food must fill your guests' tummy for worth its price. The rice beer we ordered somehow filled our stomachs! Kind of the situation when your tummy feels filled after drinking water but that's not real eating.
We refrained from ordering anything further due to the slow service. Neither we got the "Japanese experience" mentioned by so many reviewers nor the exalted service. Overall, a very lackadaisical attitude from the staff and over priced food for the portions served.
The whole “dinner” cost us around 5000/- (Don’t remember the exact figures but near about) And to come out hungry & unsatiated because the portions were so miserly was a major let down. I don’t think Japanese ppl also eat this less. To add to the woes, the service was so lousy the servers were reluctant to serve even water. Would not recommend this overpriced restaurant with bad food and...
Read moreIf you have visited this place before covid, you will be very disappointed with current Fuji. It has lost its vibe and authenticity. Talking about food, firstly, the options are decreased and menu seemed repetitive. We ordered our all time favourites miso ramen, shrimp tempura maki, grilled salmon and some beverages. Miso Ramen - Lost all of its authenticity, It seemed more like ramen which you will find in fast food chains. Earlier they used hand made udon noodles but now they are just using low quality spaghetti noodles. Toppings decreased in quantity and quality. Totally missed the old taste. Shrimp tempura maki - This was better than other dishes, however, it also lost its authentic Japanese touch when chef decided to top it with cheese and mayonnaise (probably tandoori mayo), Though it tasted fine enough. Grilled salmon - Please don’t order this. It didn't tasted, felt or looked like salmon. It didn’t have the signature salmony colour, texture or taste. Topping it all, this was the worst preparation and garnish that I have ever seen, Oh and the most expensive one. I have a gut feeling that it wasn’t salmon at all. Beverages - All beverages were good with adequate serving. Also, if you want to have Saké then you might be disappointed as we couldn’t find a single serve in the menu but whole bottles. Prices - Prices are similar to earlier prices but the serving size, options, quality, flavours, basically everything has declined so, now it feels overpriced. Summing it up, I would not recommend this place anymore as the it has lost its authentic Japanese vibe...
