Have been to Sarvanaa Bhavan a couple of times earlier too. Every time I come here I decide that next time I will visit some other south Indian restaurant but somehow we come to this place, at last. What do you order first when in a south Indian restaurant? Obviously, dosa. The dosa at Sarvanaa Bhavan is tempting at first glance but you get disappointed when you find the filling too meagre. You get three types of chutneys and sambar. Remember, no refills. So be careful and manage with all the stuff that has been served to you. I am finding a strange trend coming up these days. Restaurants are becoming thrifty in servings while on price front they do not hesitate to increase it as when they find it good. Has profitability become more important in food catering which too is part of service sector. How much chutney can be served in that small groove of your plate and how much of sambar do you get in that tiny katori (steel bowl)! Indeed, food catering has now become a good profitable business these days. I tried the south Indian Thali which came with several small katoris containing different vegetables. You get three pooris, a bowl of rice, papad and pickle. The vegetables were good and gave me authentic south Indian taste. Now my take on pooris. First of all, not the right Idea to serve three pieces. In India the number of three is not treated with respect. S it makes no sense to sevre three; it could be two large pieces or should have been four in quantity. Secondly, the pooris were wafer-lite. When all three disappeared from my plate I myself could not understand. The vegetables in Thali were very very hot and I kept sipping water with each bite. Too many small pieces of round dry red chillies. Very hot. Not recommended for small children. We tried to have something different and ordered a plate of parotta with kurma. One plate consists of three small parottas with little kurma, or south Indian vegetable. The quantity of kurma was again small and I missed raita and pickle as well. The butter milk is good, chilled and filling. The ambience is decent with no background music. I found air-conditioning a little weak. Overall, good place for one or two visits. I think nobody would prefer to make repeated visits to Sarvanaa Bhavan. #southindianfood , #apurvarai , #connaughtplace , #eatingout

Visiting this place in Delhi since last 2 decades one of the most delicious South Indian ( Tamil Nadu) food , menu is lovely you will get here idiyappam , Appam with delicious side dish all kind of Dosa , vada Rice thali , Rasam papad sweet ice cream and so on , I missed my favourite Filter coffee , service, ambience are fabulous , Team sarvana rocks. Best spot for South Indian dishes. Located in Connaught place near Janpath market. Usually its all packed up. There is a wait of approx. 10-15 mints. As the wait and crowd speaks about it's authentic taste. Would always recommend this place for south Indian food. Yesterday morning @ 8 Am me & my daughter came here for breakfast and had mini tiffin and Filter Coffee. The masala dosa with Sambhar and chutneys was really good, loved the crisp Dosa, Aloo stuffing was also very tasty. The filter coffee was exceptionally good. A must visit place for people who like the authentic South Indian cuisine in Central Delhi. They have an elaborate menu that offers a wide variety of traditional South Indian dishes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Intricate balance of spices and desi ghee is truly impressive. Love to recommend this place with 5 points 🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️🎖️ delicious breakfast of dosa filters coffee. staff were helpful and an excellent choice to start the day if you are staying nearby.

Hotel Saravana Bhavan is the largest South Indian vegetarian restaurant chain in the world, founded in 1981 with ₹5,000 capital in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. They have more than 39 locations in India (30 in Chennai) and 87 across several countries in Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America. You won't be disappointed, your stomach will be happy and your wallet won't be completely empty... take it from me, I'm a student again. I have even frequented their dosai when I used to work in the area and I would totally recommend the place to others.Meal was served hot and excellent taste. Server was very friendly and helpful. One of the best places to go for authentic south Indian food! and the staff is really friendly and helpful. Being Indian, I like the fact that the food is absolutely authentic and healthy.Overall a good place to taste original south indian food. service was great i would recommend to visit and taste their speciality, especially the "ghee paneer dosai" one of the marvellous dosai available. Saravana Bhavan captivated me with its unparalleled popularity, evident in the extensive queue that formed outside the restaurant. The anticipation built during the wait was rewarded with a culinary experience that exceeded expectations. The standout dish, without a doubt, was the ghee dosas, a gastronomic masterpiece that added a layer of brilliance to the overall dining affair. While the thali offered a satisfactory variety, it was the Rava khichadi that left a lasting impression with its delightful and nuanced flavors. The establishment undeniably claims the title of the best South Indian restaurant in Delhi, boasting a culinary prowess that resonates with authenticity and quality. With a capacity to accommodate over 100 patrons simultaneously, Saravana Bhavan provides a spacious and vibrant dining atmosphere. However, a word of caution for weekend visits, where the popularity peaks and a wait of 45 minutes to an hour is likely. On other days, the waiting time is more manageable, ranging from 15 to 25 minutes, making it a convenient choice for those seeking a delectable South Indian feast in the heart of Delhi.

Saravana Bhavan in Janpath, New Delhi, is a well-known spot for authentic South Indian cuisine, and my first visit there was delightful. The moment you step in, you're greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflects the essence of South Indian hospitality. The staff was courteous and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The food truly lives up to its reputation. I tried the idli and masala dosa, and they were nothing short of delicious. The idli was soft and fluffy, while the masala dosa had the perfect balance of crispiness and flavor, paired with an assortment of chutneys and sambar that complemented the dishes perfectly. Every bite reminded me of the rich culinary traditions of South India. One thing to note is that Saravana Bhavan is quite popular, so it’s wise to allocate some extra time to wait, especially during peak hours. However, the wait is well worth it for the quality of food and the overall experience. If you're in New Delhi and craving authentic South Indian food, Saravana Bhavan in Janpath is definitely a place you should visit.
