With relaxed mind and lovely thoughts in mind, just before sleep, I would love to write a appreciation note for United Coffee House, CP. This is one of the old restaurants in CP since 1942. I am visiting this place for the first time after hearing a lot of good words from my friends.
I was warmly welcomed by the staff and they showed my the way to upper floor where my seating was served. I booked this place for dinner around 6days back.
We were 4 persons and ordered cocktails: Sangria : 10/10 (must try) Cranberry mojito: 9/10(light alcoholic) Sex of the beach: 9.5/10(must try) Blue lagoon: 8/10
I then ordered starters: Kebab e bahar: a combo pack with fish, kebabs, chicken malai tikka with green chutney addition it was amazing( highly recommended).
Keema samosa: 10/10, this was pre-decided by me even before visiting this place or checking the menu. My father use to appreciate for this a lot and today I got a chance to finally have this samosa.
Makai malai(veg) kebab with corns filled was lovely (best veg item).
In mains then I ordered butter chicken and kadai paneer with few rumali rotis. Butter chicken was amazing right amount of spice used had such yummy taste butter chicken after a long time.
At last I ordered the most famous dessert of UCH kala jamun 600gm gulab jamun you won't be able to find sich type gulab jamun in entire Delhi. (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
I also ordered Baked Alaska it was also good. This item is also UCH old traditional dessert.
We were 4 persons and then also we were not able to finish Kala jamun we finish very little tried are best to finish it off but kala jamun is so heavy and too big. Damn it is like a Atomic Bomb jo khatam hi nhi ho raha😂.
My tummy was full all I wanted is to homw back home now and lie on my bed. We thanked the two persons who served us JEET & SANDEEP. After having wonderful dinner at UCH we sat in our lovely car and left CP for home.
Sorry I forgot to mention the best of best coffee from United Coffee house was amazing. Coffee name Cona served in a stylish way...
Read moreLet's start with a public service announcement: 'United Coffee House' is a work of fiction. Based on my experience, 'United GARBAGE House' would be far more accurate.
The moment you step inside, your nostrils are violated by a smell that is the polar opposite of coffee. It’s that familiar, unwelcome aroma of a poorly-cleaned washroom, a scent that seems to have seeped into the very fabric of the tired, worn-out furniture. The ambiance screams 'I gave up in 1998 but am still charging 2025 prices.'
Remember the place has COFFEE in it's name for futher reading - Now, for the food. I ordered a Tiramisu, hoping for a taste of Italy. Instead, I got a lesson in what happens when a chef gives up on life. This is for the 'chef' who made tiramisu: Sir or Ma'am, Tiramisu is a delicate symphony of mascarpone, egg, coffee-soaked Savoiardi, and a whisper of cocoa. What you served was a soupy mess of generic whipped cream completely suffocated under a bitter, gritty mountain of raw coffee powder. It was an act of profound disrespect to Italian cuisine. It wasn't just the worst tiramisu I've ever had; it was an imposter, a disgrace to the name.
And how—I must ask, with genuine bewilderment—can a place with COFFEE in its name screw up a COLD COFFEE? Was it made with contempt? Was the goal to create the most forgettable, watery beverage possible? If so, mission accomplished. It was an insult to the bean. The final joke was the bill: ₹1000 for these two culinary sins. The audacity is breathtaking. You are charging premium prices for sub-basement quality.
The only people who seem to know what they're doing are the waiters, who have the unfortunate job of serving this slop with a straight face. They deserve a medal, or at least a job at a restaurant that respects its customers. Do yourself a favour: save your money, your time, and your taste buds. This place is a sinking ship, and the captain is drilling holes...
Read moreWhat a fabulous experience this place is! Right from the old school British charm that catches you as soon as you enter the place to the wide array of choice in the menu, to the superb and courteous staff - everything will make you fall in love with United Coffee House.
Also, their menu is so vast & detailed that you'd need quite some time to read, understand and then choose accordingly. We ended up ordering our drinks before the food as I thought it'd be better if we took our sweet time in ordering the food.
So, for drinks we ordered a virgin mojito, a peachy lemonade and a mocktail made with soda (base) and watermelon. The drinks tasted awesome! Also, after deciding quite a bit, we ordered Mewari paneer tikka and King prawns. The paneer tikkas were really different, as in they were coated with papad. So, the paneer inside was soft while the papad coating meant the outside was crisp. Very addictive! Now, the prawns were superb! I generally don't eat fish as such, but when it comes to King prawns, it was plain amazing. Perfecf flavours and the meat inside was tender and cooked to perfection.
In main dish, we ordered egg curry, paneer butter masala, kashmiri dum aalu, vegetarian pulao & breads (naan). I specifically felt that the egg curry was wonderfully cooked. Heck, I'd love my maid to cook even 10% of what this egg curry was! Fantastic! The Kashmiri dum aalu and the paneer butter masala, both were excellent too. Also, the paneer were cooked wonderfully.
Overall, I think United Coffee House deserves to be a top class fine-dining experience for anybody who values great food and an amazing atmosphere. I understand that it might not be under the budget of many a people, but even if it for once, United Coffee House deserves a visit. The experience in itself will make you fall in love with the place,...
