DB Bistro ( Veryy Pondy) — Restaurant in Puducherry

Summary: Poor food quality, unavailability of any breads, slow service. Serve cold food, don't replace/correct it when notified. Most items seem to be frozen food that they serve. Money minded. Served chicken instead of chilly paneer, even after repeating that we are strictly vegetarians. It was only after 2-3 bites that we realised it wasn't hard paneer or uncooked corn flower, it was chicken. And we waited more than 30mins for this order.

Details: Served cold momos. I don't mean mild hot, I mean cold. We took out bites and then called their main person. He said he can't do anything as we already had 4 of 6 momos. It's their policy. I asked him to eat one and then make his mind but he refused. Let's do some math, the momos were plain ge steam momos. Replacing 4 would cist him 30-35 RS at Max. What was the price? 255 + taxes ~ 270. By accepting the mistakethat the momos were cold, and then replacing 4 would have earned him our regards and appreciation with great reviews. That intangible value is what they don't understand.

We decided to order main course. When we told the order for rotis, to our amazement all they had was Malabar Parantha, perhaps because it is available as frozen. They had no bread options available. Not even paranthas that dont need tandoor. This makes me believe they have only frozen food items recooked and serve it.

We ordered chilly paneer gravy and rice. They took 30mins + just to serve it cold. The same thing over again. We called them. They took it, reheated and gave back.

As I decided to visit Pondicherry, I started to watch videos on YouTube to know what are the places I can go and where to eat delicious food. I came across one video where in the person was having grilled seafood platter in a restaurant called Verry Pondi. The grilled seafood platter has lobsters, fish patty, squids and tiger prawns. I never had lobsters. So, I decided to visit Verry Pondi and give my taste buds the taste of lobster. As the Pondicherry plan was executed, one fine afternoon we 4 friends paid a visit to Verry Pondi and ordered the grilled seafood platter. While we were waiting for our order, we couldn’t resist ourselves from clicking pics of the restaurant. When our food was served in earthen vessels, which we all liked it. The grilled seafood platter looked so intimidating that we jumped in right away. The platter had a bowl of French fries, a small portion of rice, some salad and a dipping sauce. This was the 1st time we all were trying lobster. I don’t think it could have been any better. Fish patty was really juicy and yummy. Squids were also grilled well. One of my friends had a bad experience with squids before. But here she had almost had all of them for herself. Prawns were also delicious. Luckily, I had the chance to meet one of the MD of the restaurant. He is so humble and down to earth. We had a pretty good and long conversation where-in the MD shared what are new things coming up.
