Positives - The salmon bruschetta was perfectly balanced in taste and flavour, the done-ness of vegetables in my Main was spot on and they weren't over salted (some prefer less salt like me & crunchy yet cooked through) The doneness of the duck main was as listed in the menu - medium rare. The pepper sauce for the steak main was good. -Valet Parking parked my car in a safe spot within sight
Negatives - My order for a bottled drink was taken but I had to ask for it again after 15mins (*the restaurant was at less than 1/3rd occupancy at 9.30pm on a Sunday evening - in think it's reasonable to expect basic promptness and competency in service) Duck main protein severely lacked seasoning Steak main protein was a thick medalion of buff that required visible effort to cut(and so much more to chew - but I don't waste food) to cut with a relatively sharp steak knife, it was not just well done, it was well done and then squeezed for every last drop of meat juices inside before keeping under a heat lamp maybe. We(me and my friend) mentioned to the server prior to placing the order when he(server) himself brought up the done-ness levels question and my friend said "Medium Rare please, beech main pink bhi raha toh theek hai, its is perfectly fine for both of us" and yet 🤯... -They didn't have the dessert we wanted. on a Sunday you run out??? Okay so maybe lead with what items in the menu aren't available at the start of service? Idk or take them off the menu? Put a sticker saying Unavailable on the item name? -Tables are seated WAY too close for it to be called fine dining - sorry but if I have to whisper to my friend so we don't disturb the table next to us and I find it a bit inconvenient and I'm certain the table next to us did aswell cause we could hear all their conversation - maybe increase the music volume just a bit so it doesn't feel eeirly awkward to speak at the table we're seated at. I felt outright uncomfortable from the get go. Like someone died and we were at a funeral. Not kidding, it's the worst I've felt walking into a restaurant. Worst.
I didn't make a fuss there because I didn't want to ruin it for other diners or my friend and since it was his treat aswell. I would have politely and in sufficient detail given the chef/owner/server the best constructive feedback IF ANYONE CARED TO ASK! No one did. Not even once. Not even after the bill was paid and we wished them thanks and goodnight 🤷
Why should I come here again? To me it appears you'll don't give two hoots about how good or how bad your service and food was.
Just assumed all copacetic?
As someone who's worked both front and back of the house and has a limited sense of the craft of cooking and hospitality I don't at all think I'm being unreasonable by expecting basic service for the prices you charge, maybe even charge more if you can guarantee basic good service but drop your prices and the fine-dine label if you can't do so.
Writing a review only because I think this will reach someone who cares about Arthurs Theme enough to keep a close eye on what's going on with their baby and fix what's not working, or who's not working. Cause I know what it takes and how tough the industry is but I also know that you can only cheat a customer once. Hope...
Read moreThis place has been on my go-to list from a long time, yesterday I was in the locality to meet a family friend and somehow this small evening stretched till dinner time and while scouting for a place nearby we zeroed down on this. You can give a miss to this place while walking on the street as the entrance is not visible due to huge planters and the front shade. This place has outdoor and indoor seating the seating area is limited. We opted for indoor seating, the ambiance was calm. But did not like the closely placed tables which lead to eavesdropping and I really hated people paying attention to our conversation. The staff here is well mannered and friendly, I would commend them for keeping up with my sick friend's demand and helping her fixing Old monk with Freshly ground peppercorns and lukewarm water. Also would like to point out that the service was really fast, I didn't have to spend my time checking for food with the servers.
We ordered:Appetizers: Mariana: These fried potato skins were really yum and went well with the drinks. The fried potato skin tampered with onions, garlic and herbs gave a great punch which went great with the tartar sauce. I was really happy with the quantity of the dish as it was enough for 3 of us. Don Quixote: The Dish had 2 Cheese Croquettes which were golden fried to perfection they were really cheesy and tasted fabulous with the amazing Harissa sauce.
Main Course: Hazen : The dish was served with a house bread basket with butter which is quite cool. The dish was shared by 3 of us and we found the quantity enough maybe the appetizers were the reason for a full tummy (not sure). The dish was really great it was quite cheesy and seasoned to perfection. All the veggies were baked to perfection and I loved the baby corns and roasted potatoes the most, the dish was with sauteed mushrooms which were really great.
Ambiance: 3.5 Food: 4.5 Service: 5
Overall my food experience was great, the quality and quantity of the food are good and prices justify it. The Drinks are costly, this is something that the management can work on rest all is great. This place has lot's on menu surely in seafood and meat side and i would definitely visit this place in the future...
Read moreWent to this place for Christmas eve. It still has the old school charm like it always has for these decades. Pros: Good ambience: expats will feel at home! Pastas: It's like they've mastered how to make the right cooking temperature for the meat and pasta. It was a solid. Service: everyone knew what they were serving and knew the nicknaes of all the dishes. They knew very well how to handle full capacity even with kinds running around with ease. Valet: Much needed for the location and they're quick and prompt. Classic old school cooking!: if you're wanting consistant flavour then this is place. It'll be like you never left.
Neutral: Price: i understand that they're trying to match quality consistency.
Cons: Non white meat dishes: B**f dishes were very over cooked. Quantity: With the price you barely get quantity since quality is the focus I guess. Especially in meat dishes.
Roland: 8/10 Saucy Chicken wings. Amazing. Don Quxiote: 8/10 (If eaten hot as it comes in) Grilled buff slices: 3/10 overcooked chewy, and over salted Disappointment. Lady Jenifer: 6.5/10 good in taste is well balances flavours but low is shrip quantity. Sassy Pasta: 10/10 For the pice on of the best pastas out there. The ratio of carbs to protein and pesto sauce was incredible to see. Very very well balanced. The only thing need to do next is to start making their own penne from scratch in house!
The ratings on Zomato are deceptive. It's a solid place place and I'd recommend it to the 30+ audience who are wanting authentic flavours.
