Big Barn CafĂ© in Pune has earned a name for itself, especially among non-vegetarians. The ambiance is rustic, lively, and perfect for hanging out with friends. As vegetarians, we were curious to see how well the place catered to us â particularly because we wanted to try the famous WTF Burger Challenge.
We ordered quite a spread from the veg menu: Barn Fries, Veg Extreme Burger, Barn Hashbrown Burger, and of course, the star of the visit â the WTF Veg Burger Challenge. The challenge is fun in concept â youâre supposed to finish a giant burger (veg or non-veg), a massive plate of loaded fries, and an Oreo shake, all within 15 minutes. If you succeed, the meal is free; if not, you pay âč800.
While I was excited to take it on, I was disappointed by the quality of the veg burger. The paneer, which was the main ingredient, was completely raw and unseasoned â just plain cubes deep-fried and stacked into the burger. There were three large, bland chunks, and they were hard to chew, let alone enjoy. That became the main reason I couldn't complete the challenge. A bit of marination or proper seasoning could have improved the taste significantly.
Another major downside was the lack of staff engagement. We tried asking for clarity on how the challenge works, but the staff seemed distracted and not at all interested. During the challenge, no one checked in or offered any kind of encouragement or energy â which is something youâd expect in an event-based experience like this. A more involved and cheerful staff would definitely uplift the vibe.
That said, the Barn Fries were decent â crispy and cheesy with a nice balance of sauces. The Hashbrown Burger had potential, but again, seasoning was lacking.
In conclusion, Big Barn Café has a cool atmosphere and exciting concepts like the WTF Challenge, but the vegetarian offerings need more attention, especially in flavor and presentation. Most importantly, the staff needs to be more supportive and involved, particularly when guests are participating in something as engaging as a timed...
Read moreâââââ âThe 7 Layers of Sin â A Burger So Wrong, It Feels Right!â
If Dante had been born in India and loved fried chicken, The Burger Barn wouldâve inspired his version of the 7 layers of hell. But instead of eternal suffering, you get seven layers of pure, sinful pleasure â the WTF Burger.
Each bite is a sin. A beautiful, greasy, cheesy sin. The kind that makes you whisper âBas ek aur biteâŠâ while your arteries quietly file for divorce.
By the second layer, youâre sweating. By the fourth, youâre hallucinating cheese. By the seventh, youâve achieved moksha through mayonnaise.
Bless the chickens for their noble sacrifice â this burger is basically a poultry war memorial. I swear the last time someone looked at meat with this much lust was when Ranjeet and Pran were eyeing heroines in the 70s. I was no better â I stared at this tower of temptation like a meat virgin on his first date.
The sauces drip like scandal. The crunch hits like betrayal. Itâs not just a burger â itâs food porn with a storyline.
And when youâre done, youâll sit there, clutching your stomach, whispering the ancient Indian truth:
âPet bhara, par neeyat nahi bhari.â
So yeah â if you ever feel hungry enough to eat a horse, skip the horse. Eat this beast instead. Donât take the WTF challenge â just surrender. Slowly. Bite by bite. Into sweet, savory madness.
