Costly.. Just One Time Visit Place..overall Experience - Moderate
Dal Baati & Co. - A Taste of Rajasthan in Koregaon Park Nestled in the bustling lanes of Koregaon Park, Dal Baati & Co. promises an authentic Rajasthani culinary experience. This small, often-congested eatery aims to transport you to the heart of Rajasthan with its traditional flavors, though it comes with its own set of considerations.
❌Before Going Ahead a small tip to save your money on below MUST NOT EAT Unworthy ITEMS ❌ All Lassis - Very costly .They are nothing but..just a very thick curd and flavored Lassis are like Flavored Curd. ❌ Mung Halwa - Yet another costly dish served with a hell lot of ghee and not properly roasted uncooked Mung daal. ❌ Shahi Churma - It's just another churma with some extra Granulated Sugar. Nothing Shahi or Special about it ❌ Kadhi ane Butter Milk - 150rs for Butter Milk is not reasonable ❌ Punjabi Veggies - Same yellow sour and sweet curd based gravy used for all the punjabi dishes
Highlights & Recommendations: Try Items:
All Kachoris were served hot and fresh ..they were crispy and tasty .. Dal Baati Thali / Kunwar Thali: This is a must-try for a complete experience. The combination of varied baatis, rich dal, and churma provides a wholesome and authentic meal. Gatte Ki Sabzi: The preparation here is commendable, offering a true taste of this Rajasthani staple..
Masala Roasted Khichiya: A great appetizer that delivers on flavor and value.
Normal Churma: The traditional sweet accompaniment is often highlighted for its authentic taste.
Ambiance and Waiting Experience: Long Wait on Weekends: Be prepared for a significant wait, especially during peak hours on weekends.
No Seating for Elderly during Wait: A notable drawback is the lack of proper seating or facilities for elderly patrons during these long waiting periods. The place is quite small and can feel cramped.
Congested Place: The restaurant's compact size can lead to a somewhat congested dining experience.
Cost Considerations: High Cost for A-la-carte: While the thalis offer good value, individual items (excluding the thali options) are generally priced quite high for the portion sizes.
Overall Verdict: A One-Time Visit Place Dal Baati & Co. is undeniably a strong contender for authentic Rajasthani food in Pune, particularly if you're craving genuine Dal Baati and Gatte Ki Sabzi. The food itself is often praised for its traditional flavors and generous use of ghee. However, the operational aspects like long waiting times, lack of comfortable waiting areas, the small and congested space, and the high pricing of individual items outside the thali make it more of a one-time visit experience to satisfy a specific craving for Rajasthani cuisine rather than a regular dining spot.
If you're willing to overlook the crowd and waiting for discomfort and some extra load on your wallet for a truly authentic culinary journey, then Dal Baati & Co. is worth exploring BUT...
Read moreUnbelievable. My husband and I visited your restaurant, and let me just say, we’ve never encountered such a unique approach to customer service anywhere—small, big, or otherwise. Not only were we not served what we ordered, but we were still charged 100%. A thali without phulkas and other key items, until we had to ask for them? Really sets the bar high for expectations.
Oh, and the kachori. The first round? Oozing in oil. After waiting 10 minutes for a replacement (by which time, we were pretty much done with the meal), it finally arrived. But who would have the appetite left after that delay? The pièce de résistance was when the missing phulka, khichiya, and roti were finally brought out—served by hand, no less! No plate. Charming. I wouldn't serve my guests at home like that, but clearly, you run a more casual operation.
The cherry on top? Charging us full price for this experience. But then, the owner, Yash, graciously offered a refund outside. How considerate! Why charge us in the first place if you’re just going to offer a refund as some sort of afterthought? It's almost like you're trying to force your customers to leave feeling conflicted.
And to add to the comedy of errors, after my husband left a review, the boldness to reply with “thanks for not coming again” really shows your commitment to customer service. Kudos! As a startup, you’re truly setting an example of how to alienate customers. It's impressive how you're quick to deflect any responsibility for your mistakes, all while maintaining the charm of a place that clearly doesn't need returning customers.
Offering refunds after charging full price and claiming items are “on the house” – wow, you really know how to keep people guessing. What exactly are you trying...
Read moreWe, family of 3 visited this place on a Sunday afternoon. As expected, had to wait for 30 min.due to this place gaining so much popularity in last few months. Best to visit on weekdays. But it was truly worth the wait.
Small place, but grand menu, most authentic Rajasthani taste of all items, Rajasthani songs playing in the background, chutneys, achaars, condiments to die for.
We ordered jodhpuri pyaaz kachori at the start and we were sold immediately. Ordered Maharani Thali, dal bati thali, more pyaaz kachori, masala chaas etc.
Thali had Ker sangri, kadhi, papad ki sabzi, pithod sabzi, gatte ki sabzi, dal bati, 2 types of churma, dal maharani, oodles of ghee and lehsun chutney, Hari mirch chutney, mixed achaar oh I can't even remember.
Taste buds went mad. I am not exaggerating, my wife is from Jaipur, I have been a Rajasthani cuisine fan since ages but this is one of the best that I've ever tasted. Their pyaaz kachoris are even better than the ones sold in rajasthan. What else can I say. (We took 4 pyaaz kachoris for our dinner too hehehe )
Mr.Modi is the showrunner there with his wife and commendable etiquettes from both of them.
Will visit them soon again...to have the all time hit MIRCHI VADA , which they serve only on weekdays.
Brilliant show guys. Keep it up.
I don't review often, but you guys deserve...
