Read moreWe visited this place yesterday.
Location : If you're facing the f-residences shopping complex from the main road, take the stairs n take left until the dead end, take a right n you will find a plethora of restaurants on the right. Keep walking for a minute or two n you will spot this place.
The place : There is just one wooden table with a max seating capacity of 6 people (preferably from the same group to take care of COVID protocols). The eatery n the kitchen are separated by a small door with a transparent partition.
What we ordered :
*Paneer chole bhature - served with a green chutney, onion, very very tasty pickle of carrots n green chillies n the Delhi special masala aloo ( 1 cube). This was by far the closest taste to a Delhi chole. As far as the bhaturas were concerned, it felt like they hardly added soda....so it tasted more like a home made bhatura...which was good. The only thing that we didn't like was the paneer stuffing in the bhaturas...we were hoping for more filling specially since we ordered 'paneer' chole bhature. Also the quantity of chole seemed a bit less for us. So we ordered another extra plate of chole to finish our bhaturas.
*Pudina chaas - simple with lots of pudina n refreshing....n effective in washing down the oils n spices
*Dahi Bhalla n Papdi chaat - Folks used to our Marathi chaats may find the curd too thick n overpowering for their taste buds. But folks who love Delhi chaats will enjoy these. Pomegranate seeds are sprinkled on the top. There is no Sev. My husband liked these versions. I was looking for Sev n less curd. But quite good n no compromise on quality n ingredients.
Service : Polite staff n quick service
Cleanliness / hygiene : Well this is the only reason why I deducted a star.
1)While essentially the place looks reasonably clean, once we sat, we realised how dusty the bottom of the table was. I was wearing white pants n had patches of brown on it when we got up. There was dust n cobwebs below the table. It was surely n turn off.
2)Also there are no wash basins. So like in dhabas, they give you a jug n you're asked to wash up outside the eatery.
I hope the owners act on the above soon, so I can return here n try their...
Read moreThe food is great. No doubt about that. Yesterday I went there for lunch with my brother. I was very excited to have my brother to taste the amazing food by Hayana Handi. Well, it was a slightly busy time at around 3 pm. We waited to get a seat for over 20 mins in the sun. 2 more parties arrived at around 2 mins before a seat was empty. We took the first one and the second party took the other. We had done some shopping so the bags and everything down to be nicely ready to dig in. Then this person comes up to us and asks to move a temporary table he had set in front of the billing desk. We did not mind at the time thinking we were only 2 people but we had a lot of stuff so we anyhow tried to adjust. Then we saw that he gave the seats that we were sitting in to a couple. I was so pissed at that. I would have understood if it was even 3 people if the seat was given too given the seating area is small. However, after I saw that they gave the first seat to a couple who could have easily sat where I saw and they did not even have luggage, I was furious. 1, I waited the longest in the sun. 2, u gave our seat to a couple who came literally after we settled down and had started to look at the menu 3, the table that u gave us was right in the way so everyone could bump into us.
No, thank you. It is...
