This is an old restaurant on FC Road serving pure vegetarian food. They have inculcated a Punjabi theme and the ambience is pretty different with charpai and milestone. Their menu also reflects the Punjabi theme. Their service seems to be really slow. I loved their Main Course but the Starters were okayish. The desserts definitely give a sweet ending to your meal.
🥛Beverages 🥤 Tried their sweet lime juice and sweet lassi. Both were good, especially the lassi had a dominant flavour of elaichi. Also it is thick and stomach filling.
🍢 Starters 🥗 To be honest, didn't like the starters much apart from the cheese naanza. The cheese naanza has a base of naan, topped with their inhouse sauce, chopped capsicum and onion along with loads of grated cheese. They also serve a chutney alongside, but I prefer the naanza without it. The other Starters included cheese kebab which when served hot taste better. They are pretty soft and more on the sweeter side. You can feel the taste of cashew in it as well. The chef's special salad and roomali roti were actually disappointing. The chaat had lentils like white peas, green peas, corn, and bit of tomato and onion mixed with loads of curds and chaat masala. The roomali roti although crispy had an overdose of the groundnut chutney.
🥘 Main Course 🍲 The methi mutter masala was amazing, for all the ones whom love fenugreek!!! I could feel the sweetness of malai along with a spicy touch which complimented well. The toofani veg was also decent. Another sabji which I loved alot was mushroom kalimirch. The gravy was superb and the mushroom was soft and very well-cooked. The Paneer laziz also had a nice taste of the gravy. The Paneer was soft. Their cheese garlic naan was different, they stuff the naan with cheese and garlic instead of grating on the top. Their biryani was spicy and again a very impressive taste of the masala. Overall great place for main course.
🍧 Desserts 🍨 We had ice-cream with litchi, matka kulfi and paan icecream. Paan icecream had a very dominant flavour of paan and you can't eat it much. Matka kulfi was like the one we get in grocery shops. The vanilla icecream with litchi combination was...
Read more‘Horn Ok Please’ is one of the oldest food joint at FC Road. I still remember almost 6 yrs back when I visited this place and even now it hasn’t changed much. Back then also this place was vibrant with touch of Indian culture and so it is now. Well, you can also call it a modern version of Dhaba. Their interiors does reflect the dhaba culture of India. As they actually have a horn in the restaurant and their walls have quirky images painted on it.
Coming on to their food, they serve variety of North Indian and Mughlai food majorly. As per my experience I really liked their main course but found their starters quite average. I have tried their ‘Cheese Kebabs’ which were sweet so didn’t go well for me. Another one was their ‘Chef’s Special Chaat’ which was pretty average as it lacked that savoury essence of Chaat. It had corn, peas, and kidney beans as major Chaat ingredient along with finely chopped onions and tomatoes. It’s presentation wasn’t pleasing enough to tempt me. But I really liked their ‘Naanza’ which was a delicious desi version of Pizza. It was fully loaded with cheese and garnished with coriander leaves. Would definitely recommend to try this one. Talking about their main course, it was delicious. I have tried Mushroom Kali Mirch, Methi Mutter Malai, Dal Makhani, Toofani Veg, Paneer Lazeez Masala and Veg Biryani. But my fav was their Mushroom Kali Mirch and Dal Makhani. Whereas the Mushroom which was cooked in rich Indian gravy and had flavour of black pepper on the other hand dal Makhani tasted yummy and showed that it must have cooked for a long time to get that texture, consistency and flavour. Rest everything were tasted scrumptious too. And Veg Biryani which I’m not so fond of, turned out to be good too. It was mild in flavours and quite aromatic, exactly the way I Like it. I haven’t tried their desserts though but they do offer desserts which involves fresh seasonal fruits and kulfis too.
Overall this is the kinda place which doesn’t go heavy on your pocket plus offer good food and truly value for money. It is always crowded specially on weekends so don’t get surprised if you have to wait for...
Read moreThis dhaba styled restaurant on FC Road is a popular hangout joint, and is seen swarming with students .A small and sweet place with quite vibrant ambience and honestly visited this place years later. It so brings back old memories.Let us start with my food journey over here shall we?
Started with their Tomato Pudina Shorba and Palak Shorba. The Palak Shorba was thinner in consistency and a great start to our meal. A warm and comforting dish with the goodness of spinach, garlic and mild spices. The Tomato Pudina Shorba tastewise was decent enough and still could have been better.
Moving over had tried the Paneer Lajawab, Aloo Hydrebadi , Amritsari Tikki and Paneer Kathi Roll.I would suggest that one should try their Paneer Lajawab and Paneer Kathi Roll for sure. Both these dishes were served to us as a savory snack and taste was really good.Loved the preparation
Then from the main there were so many interesting options to choose from but went ahead with Sarson Ka Saag with Makki KiRoti, Ajwaini Paneer , Cheese Angori and Dal Saat Nizam. Honestly liked the Daal Saat Nizam. The taste was simple and full of flavors and tasted well with Garlic Naan and Onion Kulcha. All the dishes were simple yet nourishing food prepared with pure ingredients but still there is a scope for improvement in terms of taste and flavors. The presentation was good enough though!
The entire meal ended on a sweet note with their Matka Kulfi and Paan Icecream. Both the desserts were yum and Matka Kulfi sealed the entire food deal.
So concluding, the staff over here were very courteous and the service was good.Had a good experience though.
Happy Eating!Follow @yummydelightsdiary...
