I was a bit skeptical visiting here after reading recent critical reviews; however it was worth the visit and I did not observe any of the negative points that worried me from previous reviews. On Tuesday's, they offer reduced rates to all, however there was no reduction in quality, quantity or variety of food items.
Atmosphere: We were welcomed with a chandan tikka, though the person seemed a bit hesitant and seeked permission before applying it to our forehead. The manager Rajas and Chef Induram (hope I got their names right) were attentive to customer needs. The place is spacious, however we felt a bit cramped being 5 people on a table for 4. However there were tables that could be joined to cater to large groups. There was a seperate area where a big office team came for their team lunch. By the time, we completed our lunch, almost all tables were occupied.
Service: They get the traditional warm water pot to help you wash your hands before and after the meal at the table itself. Each of the servers came multiple time enquiring whether we needed anything and promptly got what we wanted. Though they are trying to be efficient and hence their tone sounds urgent, they should be softer in their tone, otherwise it seems they are serving in a pangat rather than a traditional thali restaurant.
Food: Please note that the food is unlimited servings (thali) containing sufficient variety of vegetarian marwari-rajasthani-gujrati cuisines. The food served was hot, fresh & tasty. Today's menu had pav-bhaji dhokla - soft and fusion of pav-bhaji with dhokla was a good twist, especially if you like pav-bhaji and kathol samosa was piping hot and delicious. I controlled myself from not gorging on just these as I had to sample the main course and desserts too. Daal-Bati with ghee and churma were good too; however I am biased towards the ones that my mother makes at home. Out of 4 vegetables and 3 dal/kadhi preparations I liked the paneer babycorn, as the paneer was soft and gravy flavoursome though I did not get any babycorns unlike my dining partners. The Rajma makhanwala was soft and subtly flavourful. I liked the batata sukha bhaji and Sev tomato too along with the sweet gujrati dal. The phulkas were hot, soft, small and topped with ghee and I did not even keep count of how many I consumed apart from the thepla and makai rotla. The pineapple pachadi did not have any flavour of pineapple, but the desserts - moong dal halwa and jalebi-rabdi concluded the...
Read moreThis is first time I went at Rajdhani for Dinner. I am here writing my experience. Food- Food here is awesome. They have unlimited thali and 20+ items to serve. There are several curries, kadhi, snacks, various kind of roti, buttermilk, jal jeera, juices. Rotis served with ghee. Sweets are also delicious like rabdi jalebi, kheer, halwa and some items even I don't remind. Therefore five star for food. Only reason I gave three star is due to service. I never thought service will be issue with Rajdhani. Initially when you sit on tables they come and serve it fast. You start having a food. As there are many items and serving porting they have to keep small. That is understandable as your thali also need place for many items. But when you finished with roti, rice or any items, all time we have to look towards waiter. Catch is here, once our table started , and some new table come all waiters attend that first. Literally we had to finish chapati and wait for a waiter who can give attention. It happened many times, I had to call up for rice three four times. This waiting of killed mood of food. I never got a feel that dinner was going smooth like what we eat at home without interrupting flow. Suggestion- I Rajdhani have such a delicious food, management shall keep dedicated waiters for few tables. They can watch and keep serving. Otherwise guest will not be able to enjoy that delicious...
Read moreKhandani Rajdhani is currently running the upwas ki thali this navratri festival and also alongwith Gujarati & Rajashtani Thali on everyday basis . The spread is homestyle without overdoing masalas, yet replete with plenty of side dishes.
Chef Indupreet has executed each item with 100% authenticity and delicious flavours. What I relished the most were the 5 different kinds of Sabji (tomoto paneer sabji,Aaloo ki sabji,Rajgeera curry,Kaddu ki sabji, tomatoes curry) that went so well with the rajgeera thalipeet, poori as well as soma rice ,each with a distinctflavour.
The coconut chutney went very well with the snack item kattu ke aate pakode and different sabudana pappad and seasonal fruits added more color and texture to the spread. Enjoyed all of them.
And how can I forget the delicious
Shakarkand (sweet potatoes)halwa ?
UPWAS ki Thali cuisine is incomplete without Sabudana wada which went so well with all the coconut chutney made with milk. Ended the meal with a rich Basundi and Chaas.Apart from the Upwas spread, there are Gujarati and Rajasthani thali ,there are plenty of regular items too. The meal is worth every penny. Staff is kind and prompt.Thankyou team.will visit...
