Don't go there to have food!!! Our dinner at Upre was, unfortunately, one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had — and this was at a restaurant that’s highly overhyped and quite famous. I visited with my family expecting a pleasant evening, but reality turned out to be completely different.

First, the waiting time for our order was unreasonably long. One of the most shocking aspects was the condition of their washrooms. In most good restaurants, cleanliness is a basic standard, but here the facilities were unhygienic, under-maintained, smelly, and in such a state that I wouldn’t return even if they offered free meals.

To make matters worse, they overcharged us on GST — billing us 18%. This rate only applies to restaurants in 5-star hotels, and Upre certainly does not qualify as one. It’s unclear why they consider themselves in that category.

The hype surrounding Upre is, in my opinion, purely a product of social media influencers. The only genuinely nice thing about this restaurant is the view — it is indeed located by the lakeside, which makes for beautiful photos. Beyond that, there’s nothing to justify the hype. There’s no clean washroom, no parking facility, no great food, and the service is far from polished.

The food itself was a huge disappointment. The Dum Biryani (both veg and chicken) was among the worst we’ve ever had — so bad we couldn’t even finish it. The Lehsuniya Paneer Tikka was rubbery and inedible, and we had to send it back. Much of the food felt like it was pre-cooked and simply reheated before serving.

If you truly want to enjoy a good meal in Udaipur and don’t mind spending money, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. This city has plenty of restaurants with scenic lake views and great food.
