L'attitude 49 — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

Terrible experience. They charge 3k per couple for a fixed Valentine’s Day package which includes a 4 course meal. We thought we will have a nice time and a proper sit down meal. We went and sat there and got out first course which was soup only after an hour. By this time I was already super hungry. Then we had to wait for 45mins for 2nd course where the was cold and soggy. Now the 3rd course was the main meal. They made us wait for another half an hour. By that time it was almost 10.15pm. When we asked, they told us to go check out the hotel buffet which was made was the people staying there. Since we were hungry we gave up and decided to go see the buffet.. by this point it was 10.30 in the night and the buffet only had little left overs and some curd rice. Almost all the vessels were scrapped to the bottom! We didn’t pay the money to eat the left overs and curd rice of what other ate. The manager or the owner lady who was there didn’t seem to bother! She was busy catering to her friends who were there to dine. You just know that you are not doing us any kind of charity. You ask us to pay upfront and if you are planning a event you have to be well equipped for that. By this time we were tired and our night had already been ruined. After all this we just ate the dessert which was served and left. A lot of couples had the same issue.. some who created a problem there were told they would get refund! Such a mannerless place. Not even an apology. The owner lady has so much attitude. Please do not visit this place on any occasion. They are going to spoil the day for you. Driving all the way to their place thinking we will have a good time turned out to be a complete disaster. Would never go back...

The restaurant is in a resort right at the entrance of Mahabalipuram. We did our booking online for lunch on a Sunday. We promptly received a call confirming the booking and we were informed that it was a buffet lunch.

There was a reasonable amount of parking available and for the EV owners there is a Tata Power EV charging station also at the parking lot.

The place was completely full. We were welcomed and seated with a great view of the ocean. They informed us that the soup will be served at the table. The manager told us the soup would be spicy but it will be ok.

The soup came to the table and it was way too spicy all of us had to waste it. The spread was mediocre with many dishes emptying out as soon as it was refilled. We couldn't really blame the restaurant as it was a full house.

There were about 3 vegetarian starters which tasted ok. There was no bread to accompany the starters.

There were 3 mocktail selections from which we had to choose. The masala coke was ok but served in a small glass.

The main courses tasted average nothing special. The desserts were better but again tiny portions. I know we can take as many as we wanted but I get the feeling we were discouraged from eating a lot.

The bill was hefty which is the main reason for a 3 star review. I think it cost more than ₹1500 a person and the taste and spread didn't justify it to me.

We made a reservation for 9:45 PM under name of Singh! Walked in at 9:55 PM, irrespective of the time came to dine, there was only one other table that was sitting in the restaurant by the window side. Samriti took our order, didn’t mention how long the order would take and didn’t bother getting any accompaniment before the food arrived. Took half an hour for the food to arrive and when we asked her if they serve anything to munch upon before the food, she said “we were busy and forgot about it!”

There was literally one table before we sat. There was no manager or supervisor on sight! I am a F&B Manager with 15 years of experience, and honestly this has been the most casual service from such a high standard restaurant based on what the ratings on the Google had to offer. The only saving grace was the quality of food, thanks to the chefs, otherwise the service was atrocious!

No verbal feedback was taken whilst we were eating our food! We literally had to wave both our hands to get their attention to order another round of garlic naan! Please take care and the give necessary training to your staff, they seems to be an attitude issue wherein they couldn’t care less about their jobs!!
