Extremely disappointing experience for many reasons. Before posting this review, I even reached out to the hotel directly to express these concerns and never received a response - hopefully this gets their attention.

Most notably, the room was significantly worse than what was advertised on the website. Specifically, the “Sea View Chalet” had no view of the sea from inside the room, as it was entirely blocked by a tree. The photos on the website are incredibly misleading. I understand that the photos online are meant to be representative only, however this was an unacceptable difference as the “sea view” room did not have a view of the sea.

Furthermore, upon checkin, the front desk agent was unable to find our reservation for almost twenty minutes. We had booked directly through the hotel’s website and not through any third party service, so there is no reason why she should not have been able to find it. She asked us to show her the confirmation email which took us a very long time to find since there is not wifi available until check in is complete and cellular service is not strong at the lobby. A delay of this long in a non-AC lobby is quite a painful arrival experience.

When we finally were taken to the room, the air conditioning there was not functioning and we had to wait a long time (after placing multiple phone calls to guest services) for somebody to come fix it. This is not acceptable in the summer heat.

The room itself was outdated and dirty (our feet turned black from walking barefoot on the floors) but we were so exhausted from the horrible check in experience and lack of service so far that we didn’t have the energy to request a room change, especially since we were only there for one night.

Upon checkout, the front desk agent did not even ask how our stay was. When I expressed my concerns with the room, she simply said “okay we will make note of that” which I am sure will lead to nothing and was just a way of dismissing us.

If you plan to use Ubers or taxis to get around, forget about it - you better have your own driver arranged or you will never be able to get a ride anywhere. Knowing this, we arranged an airport transfer through the hotel for our departure, and it’s a good thing we went to the lobby early because they clearly did not have a record of this and had to scramble to get their driver ready.

Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing experience. We paid a significant premium for this room (much more than we were paying for the Sheraton Grand down the street the night before, which after the fact we learned was a MUCH nicer property with cheaper room rates) because we expected a premium experience and a spectacular view. We got neither of those.

Would definitely recommend staying elsewhere, especially...

The resort is located conveniently at the very beginning of town. As soon as you come from Chennai into mahabalipuram, watch out for the sign on the left to get into the entrance.

There is a security check at the entrance for vehicles. Once you cross the security check, there is adequate parking on both sides of the building immediately ahead of you to park your car and do a check in conveniently inside.

The staff at the check in desk are very friendly and do a good job in expediting the check-in process.

There are different types of rooms available on the property. On my most recent visit, I had the opportunity to book a villa which allowed me to have ample space in the room. You will encounter a living space followed by the bath and then followed by the bedroom.

The room has an inbuilt safe available for you to store your valuables. The supplies are adequate for single or double occupancy.

There was a welcome box with some nice cookies in the room when I arrived. This was a nice gesture on part of the staff.

The property itself has two check in areas with one mannd in the front entrance. The service staff are very helpful.

The Internet and WiFi has a mind of it's own. Very inconsistent. Can be annoying sometimes. If same room has multiple devices this can become a big issue. "Multi Login Limit is Over for Same User Name,Different IP & Different MAC Address."

If you have time, I do recommend that you check the Bodhi spa which is located in the middle of the property. The spa services include a variety of massage and options for you to consider as you de-stress and relax.

There are two swimming pools in the property. The infinity pool is located behind the property by the beach. The beach access is regulated from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with life guards available throughout.

There are two bars on the property and two restaurants. Please look out for my review of the restaurants in a separate post. The restaurant that I visited include the water's edge right by the entrance to the property behind the check-in area.

Overall, this is a nice property with rooms, adequate to support families and villas that can be available for larger groups as well.

The event spaces Are adequate for 200 to 300 people breakout rooms available...

During my recent stay as a guest at Temple Bay Resort in Mahabalipuram, I was treated to an unforgettable experience that perfectly captured the essence of coastal bliss. Situated right on the beach, the resort provided a tranquil retreat amidst the picturesque surroundings of Mahabalipuram. Mahabalipuram, with its rich cultural heritage and stunning coastal vistas, offered a perfect backdrop for a relaxing getaway. The town's UNESCO World Heritage-listed monuments and vibrant local culture added to the charm of the experience, allowing me to immerse myself in the history and beauty of the region. Temple Bay Resort itself was a testament to luxury and elegance, with its exquisite architecture and lush tropical gardens. My accommodation, boasting spacious rooms and villas with ocean views, provided a serene sanctuary where I could unwind and rejuvenate. What truly set my stay apart was the exceptional hospitality of the resort staff. They went above and beyond to ensure that my visit was memorable, taking note of the special occasion and surprising us with a thoughtful gesture. From presenting us with a delicious cake to decorating our room with care and attention to detail, their thoughtfulness truly touched our hearts. In addition to the impeccable service, the resort's culinary offerings were a highlight of the experience. From indulging in authentic South Indian cuisine to savoring fresh delicacies, every meal was a culinary delight that tantalized the taste buds. Beyond the comforts of the resort, Mahabalipuram beckoned with its array of attractions and activities. Exploring ancient temples, lounging on pristine beaches, and embarking on foosball and other activities were just a few of the experiences that made our stay unforgettable. Overall, my stay at Temple Bay Resort was a blissful escape that exceeded all expectations. The combination of luxurious accommodations, exceptional hospitality, and the natural beauty of Mahabalipuram made it a truly unforgettable experience.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Garden. You will enjoy the greenery and the trees all around the property. Both the pools are waiting to give you different experiences. Nice family fun possible. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Restaurant service was amazing. Very tirelessly working and courteous team. Good quality and taste was great. The bottled water gave us a great comfort 🫶 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞 Not to miss the sunrise from the deck. Beach access and security is worthy mentioning unlike other properties in the vicinity 😍😍😍Kudos to Bell desk and the ever available buggy service. Housekeeping team and all the staff right from the sweepers in the property were very courteous. It says about the leadership team of this property for sure. Not all were good… 🚮🚮🚮 I stayed in Sea Villas. The Villas were old, mirrors had even faded, toilets not any near to the rates we paid. The curtain rails were old and curtain movements were rough and often stuck. We anyways mastered the art of moving it at the end of our stay. For what we paid the quality of room was a shocker. Some investment must go in. For the price we paid we expect some luxury and experience. In that front it was very disappointing. 💡💡💡If you want a view of the sea as you wake up, go for for Sea Villas 2,3 and 4. 5,6,7,8 have good views too. When you book please ensure you are not given Villa 1 as it just has garden view but labelled as Sea Villas. I was disappointed on my first day with Villa 1 and had a change the next day. Management was considerate over my grievance 👏👏🙏🙏 Also the Sea view chalets were fine but didn’t check the inside. 💡💡💡If you decide to have an additional bed in the room request for a separate bed as the sofa cum bed may not be comfortable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall greatstay.
