Pulusu Ruchulu - Andhra Restaurant in Anna Nagar — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

There are many affordable Andhra Messes in Chennai. This restaurant is expensive andhra mess. But the dining space here is very less compared to the cheaper local Andhra Mess. Due to lack of space only 12 tables have been set up. So only few customers can sit inside at the time. Due to this, customers have to wait outside for a long time during meal times on holidays like Sundays. My daughter started getting hungry as our turn did not come after more than half an hour. I went in with no other choice and asked for a parcel of chicken 65 only and bought it. After asking the price of 275 rupees for just 5 small pieces I realized that the price here is high. The restaurant staff were courteous. But the person sitting at the billing counter was very disrespectful. He was seen as having rude behaviour. He was very annoyed that I was taking photos of the restaurant to post a Google review. He literally started saying angrily, "Go & wait outside “. Typically in retail sectors such as restaurants, managers supervise the activities of employees who face customers directly. Here the situation is reversed. While the staff are calm, the person at the billing counter is rude.

I was alerted when I heard the price of chicken 65. So we ordered only veg meals and a Hyderabadi biryani. The veg meals is reasonably ok for me. But biryani is too bad. There was no egg in the biryani served to us. I thought that they don't give eggs in biryani at this restaurant. But it was only after finishing the meal that I could see the biryani and egg being placed on the neighboring tables. But by then the bill had arrived. After asking why they didn't give us eggs, they changed the bill of 540 rupees and brought a new bill of 515 rupees. The frontage of the restaurant is nice to look at. The interior is also good. Apart from this, the parking area is also huge. Both of these are positives of this restaurant. Small dining area, too expensive and poor quality of food etc....

Pulusu - authentic Andhra flavours

Ambience - dim lit. Heavy wooden theme with a dose of pottery n artificial tree. Spacious between two tables n nice seats. I liked the typography - great design sense. Sufficient 2 n 4 wheeler parking

Menu - everything Andhra. I had a difficulty in understanding few menus. Thanks to the waiters they were patient in explained them

Service - food was served in no time. Like within 5 mins after we placed our order all the starters n main course was served. Serves fryums for free after order. Friendly staff

Taste

Hyderabadi Dum Briyani - Good one. This is not like the version that has white basmati rice at the top n masala at the bottom. The rice has Briyani flavours n the bottom is filled with little amount of masala. Served with a thunder thigh piece. The chicken piece had a good flavour. I felt the rice content was more for 1 person. Accompanying by raitha n salna.

Spl non veg meals - 10/10. For those who are hungry n want a feast go for it. Too good. Bit pricy but has lot of gravies

Hyderabadi kodi veppudu - tastes good. Not crispy. was disappointed with the quantity. Around 5 small pieces

Elaneer payasam- good one. Felt it could be a bit thicker...

Had the worst experience last Sunday evening when we had gone for dinner. The place smelled bad and the place was deserted. That should have warned but still went ahead.

First order Andhra chilly chicken : chicken was warn outside and cold inside . Clear sign of frozen chicken. Taste was a disaster. Not spicy and had no taste. 0 /5

Ordered for egg vichu: never have I had a vechu this thick and it had a layer of egg why made the parotta soggy 1/5

Avaka chicken briyani: no flavour at all. Onion raitha was so watery . 2/5

Prawn fry: was the better tasting amongst that we ordered. The only downside it had little bit of sand. 3/5

Rosemilk: pre-made Rosemilk which was at room temperature. When asked the person said that's how most people prefered itseems . It was just sweet and no taste. Whopping 119 rs for this. 1/5

Idly : looked good and tasted good. 4/5

Overall worst experience on a special occasion. Will recommend folks not to visit this place. My only suggestion is there is lot of easy things that cannot go wrong but here most of them does. If the owner doesn't look at these he is just going to waste prime real estate...
