Me and my husband thought of having a quick dinner on our way home. Samco shanti colony, being nearer to our home we decided to have our dinner there. We ordered for lung fung soup, Fish nirvana (apparently fish festival or something was going on, therefore ordered from that menu) upon asking to the waiter on the number of pieces he said medium pieces of Vanjaram fish would come, therefore ordered that too. Apart from that we also chose mutton Nalli, 1 keema naan, 1 place steak rice and 1 plate tava roti. Keema Naan per pc is 110 rs. No keema and burnt roti served after 30 mins. Therefore Returned it. Soup average and the only thing we ate. Fish nirvana, costed 550 had only 1pc fish totally contradictory to what the waiter said, returned that too. While eating roti, we got a foul smell coming. I literally sniffed everything, and guess what steam rice was smelling. It was spoilt and such an aweful Stink it gave, that I could smell it from a distance.

We called the chef, but god knows what wrong with him. All he did was smiling. Nor he understood English and just like a moron kept nodding his head. Upon asking him to smell the rice, he had at audacity to tell us that “Oh his team forgot to wash the rice properly”. We were shocked to hear statement like this. He behaved so unprofessional like he does not care if customers walk away without consuming something. My spouse demanded to speak with the owner Mr Aboobakar Siddique. He was busy but did find out time to speak with us.

I don’t know how the others ate over there, but it was surely a mess for us. Will never visit this place for sure. But one piece of advice is that, if a chef of the hotel does not take the ownership of the food being served to the customers, then he is NOT THE RIGHT FIT FOR THIS JOB. Because a chef’s responsibility is not to make any customer leave his restaurant hungry. And surely he was zero in that. Please smell, taste and check everything before consuming the food from there, because you never know, if by chance you happen to get food poisoning, then in that case you will not get any support from the restaurant nor this stupid chef will take any responsibility. It’s never let than ever. Just adding the soup Picture because that was on the only thing...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a restaurant that offered a wide variety of dishes, and after trying almost everything on the menu, I can confidently say that the taste was truly exceptional. The culinary experience was undoubtedly the highlight of my visit, and it left me thoroughly impressed.

The restaurant boasts a delightful ambience, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for guests. The decor is tastefully done, with comfortable seating arrangements and an aesthetically pleasing interior. The overall ambiance enhanced the dining experience, making it a pleasant and enjoyable affair.

One of the standout aspects of this establishment is the service. The staff members were attentive, polite, and well-informed about the menu. They were quick to address any queries or concerns we had, and their friendly demeanor added to the overall positive experience. The level of service provided certainly contributed to the restaurant's appeal.

In terms of pricing, I found the restaurant to offer a reasonable value for the quality of the food served. While it is not the most affordable option, the exceptional taste and overall dining experience justify the cost. It's a place where you can indulge in delectable dishes without breaking the bank.

However, the only downside I encountered during my visit was the waiting time for the ordered food. Waiting for 20 minutes might seem relatively short, but it can feel longer when you're hungry and eagerly anticipating your meal. While this may not be a significant issue for everyone, it's worth noting that some improvement in the timeliness of food preparation would greatly enhance the overall dining experience.

In conclusion, this restaurant offers an excellent culinary experience with a diverse menu that caters to various tastes. The pleasant ambience, attentive service, and reasonable prices contribute to the overall appeal. Although there may be a slight waiting time for the food, the exceptional taste and overall positive aspects of the dining experience make it well worth a visit. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a memorable...

My 30th Wedding Anniversary – A Lifelong, Unforgettable Memory

My 30th wedding anniversary function was truly a lively, unforgettable, and most memorable occasion of my life. It was surprisingly arranged by my beloved son Dr. S. Karthik (MBBS, MD, FM) and daughter-in-law Dr. R. Swedha (BDS, MDS) without giving us the slightest clue.

The celebration was held in a hotel, and as we entered, we were shocked and overwhelmed to see a welcome board dedicated to our special day. We were deeply touched.

Our close family members and friends, along with their families, were invited. Even our sambandhis traveled all the way from Karaikal after a long journey — and not even a hint was given to us! Every family member, including little Kriya who is just 2 months old, knew about the surprise — except me and my wife!

As we stepped into the hotel, my mind went completely blank, and tears filled my eyes.

To our surprise, Mr. Shyamnath Ji, who is in Canada, joined via a morning video call — he didn’t reveal anything earlier but was part of the planning too. Even my mother-in-law, who is nearly 80 years old, spoke to us that morning and kept the secret beautifully.

My son and daughter-in-law gifted us a pair of gold rings, arranged a beautiful cake-cutting ceremony, flower garlands (maalai), a decorated stage, and a lavish buffet with an amazing menu. Everything was well-organized and perfect.

Our dearest friends — each a gem — came with their families and gave us a warm welcome. I was truly shocked and deeply moved by their love and effort. They all brought beautiful gifts, and each one was special.

This day will forever remain etched in our hearts as one of the most cherished memories of our lives. We are...

Samco, the name has been familiar to almost all Chennaites and has been standing tall since the 1960s. No matter where you go in Chennai, you cannot miss trying them at any of their branches in Chennai at least once!! Chicken pepper fry - Tender chicken coated well, fried deeply, and Sautéed with strong pepper; the flavor was too much, didn't like the texture but the meat was pretty good 👍 Singapore chili chicken - Chicken tossed in Sweet and tangy sauce, so soft with chilies and Capsicum; a hint of umami and sourness to balance things 👌 Mutton samosa - Great roadside snack served with sauce, crunchy with sufficient minced Mutton on the inside, WOW 🤩 Mutton chukka - Well ground Mutton with an amalgamation of all native spices; but, the raw taste was evident even after having a hint of lemon to it 😑 Mutton mandi - Succulent meat on the marrow which was as soft as a cotton candy; the Arabian rice was fragrant with mayo being the perfect companion for the mandi (like how they do in Kerala) ❤️ Chicken semiya biryani - Their signature biryani with vermicelli instead of rice; the composition was similar to any biryani but the fine semiya didn't work for me while the meat could've been cooked better 😐 Red velvet ice cream - Smooth and creamy ice cream but left for a while would leave the crystals thereby ruining the experience 🙌 The best part of this place is its huge seating space, the glittery embellishments elevating the ambiance, its courteous service, and its comfortable valet parking space. While table booking is recommended for groups, there was only a minimum waiting time for tables and the food. Their prices are quite decent as many people serve the same curated menu all across Chennai.

Thinking of eateries that have stayed relevant for decades now, throws up a few names and Samco is one amongst them. The earle eighties saw us frequent their small and inconspicuous outlet at Eldams Road junction in Alwarpet, for their delectable mutton samosas and chai. They're now a full-blown chain of restaurants. This Ramadan month, we decided to try the Iftar offering at their Annanagar outlet. It requires prior reservation and an advance payment to confirm you table. The spread was substantial and sumptuous. Starting with the 'mohabbat ka sherbet' the menu was well put-together. Being a buffet, there wasn't much service to talk about but, there were regular replenishments. For the menu offered, the pricing was apt. The mutton biryani was spiced just right and was aromatic. The dessert section were basic staples but gobsmackingly awesome - shahi tukda and gajar ka halwa need special mention. Samco is quite a happening spot this Ramadan season.
