Went for lunch with family today after seeing the great reviews. First point is the menu in their website is different from what was given to us. The website mentions Non A/c Menu, whereas we went to the A/c Hall. Maybe that’s why… We went there about 1: 30 PM, there were many tables available, considering this was a Sunday. However the place filled up quickly after that. The seating was decent enough, however the wall paper was pretty dirty and stained. Wanted to try North Indian items, even though I had doubts if it would be good, as the place looked more suited for South Indian fare. Wanted some side dishes to be made without garlic. But the waiter informed us that except for a couple of items, everything else will have garlic. Asked him to check with the kitchen, but they refused to make without garlic. This is surprising as most North Indian restaurants can accommodate this request in Chennai nowadays. Only in the 80s and 90s, such issues were there. Still went ahead and ordered Chilli paneer starter, Stuffed Capsicum, Palak Paneer and Paneer tikka masala, along with some kulchas and naan. The breads were OK, however Palak Paneer had no salt and Stuffed capsicum had excess salt. Chilli paneer was also OK, with sufficient pieces of Paneer, but Tikka masala had just two pieces of Paneer. Overall quantity of side dishes was small. Overall this is pretty average to below average fare. Maybe the South Indian food might have been good? I don’t know. Maybe will try that...

My recent dining experience at Shri Gowri Krishnaa in Anna Nagar left me with mixed feelings. The food was delicious - I ordered idlis and khichidi, and both dishes were top-notch. The accompanying condiments were also quite tasty, and the overall culinary experience was enjoyable.
However, there was one significant concern that detracted from the experience - the hygiene practices of the waitstaff. All the waiters were wearing latex gloves, which is generally a positive sign, but what concerned me was the lack of attention to cleanliness. The gloves they were wearing appeared to be unclean and quite filthy. What was even more troubling was that they were handling everything, from plates to cutlery, with the same gloved hand.
The pinnacle of this unhygienic practice was when the waiter handling our table accepted payment and the tip with the same dirty glove. This left me quite uncomfortable and concerned about the overall cleanliness and sanitation in the restaurant.
I truly enjoyed the food at Shri Gowri Krishnaa, but I believe that the restaurant management should pay closer attention to the hygiene of their staff, especially in light of the ongoing health concerns. I hope that they can address these issues to ensure that future diners have a more pleasant and...
Read moreI've been staying in Chennai for a few days. Usually I eat here. The food is good. The ambience and cleanliness are good too. 4 stars for the food, hygiene and cleanliness. But I write this because one of the supervisors (wearing a light blue shirt uniform) was rude in handling my request. Despite me being a Govt. servant, I came here for a quick lunch (in a clumsy attire) and had a Sambar rice. Then I asked for a cup of buttermilk to the supplier (in charge of some other table) and also the supervisor who was around. Waited for a few minutes.. I asked him again for which he tried to reply in a degrading tone. Is this the manner in which you guys treat someone who likes your food? I have eaten full meal for lunch several times post which they themselves offer a cup of buttermilk. Is there any condition that a cup of buttermilk shouldn't be offered on request to a person who ate variety rice??!? Teach your supervisor guy some basic manners. Had it been my hometown or had I been in official mood, THE CONSEQUENCES WOULD HAVE BEEN TERRIBLE AND SEVERE FOR YOUR SO CALLED SUPERVISOR.. SUCH A SHAME.. A few such incidents and these kind of mannerless craps will DEGRADE YOUR HOTEL, which is actually doing good. ZERO STARS TO THE BEHAVIOR.. Beware and don't ever try to talk in such a tone to...
