Ambience first — absolutely amazing. Cozy, warm, and full of natural light thanks to large windows, the space feels open and inviting. It’s a bright, cheerful spot to enjoy a meal.

Sashwata serves Bangalore-style food, and in this area, the only other real comparisons are Tiffin Shastra and Upavihar. Between the two, Tiffin Shastra stands out — and Sashwata matches it in quality, if not surpassing it in some dishes.

We tried the vada, which was both soft and crispy — perfect with their slightly sweet sambar. Then came the benne khaara dosa, Mysore masala dosa, and benne masala dosa — all rich with butter and absolutely delicious. The dosas were top-notch.

The place is self-service. We also tried the badam milk, which I personally didn’t enjoy — the flavor was a bit off for me, though others might feel differently. The mango mastani falooda, on the other hand, was refreshing and enjoyable.

Now, let’s talk pricing — the elephant in the room. Sashwata and Tiffin Shastra are almost neck-and-neck in taste. But where Tiffin Shastra really wins is on value — the same dishes are about ₹70 cheaper. That’s a big difference. And for that reason alone, I’m taking off two stars.

Sashwata is excellent, no doubt — but at this price point, it feels unnecessarily premium. I’d still recommend it, but I personally won’t be coming here often, knowing that Tiffin Shastra delivers the same great...

Went there yesterday for Onam Sadhya special lunch(picture attached). They give you a tablespoon of each dish for 400Rs and call it a meal.

You'll see 6 people behind the counter working on the same plate, like a pitstop, but you should stand there for 10 minutes to get your order. Carry the heavy plate to your table and then come back for the rice plate. I started having imaginary arguments in my mind with the hotel staff over a free refund or a replacement if somebody bumps into me and I Drop the food.

The food is good. Portions are tiny. Ambience is great.

I've been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Couldn't find a table during breakfast. Had to stand, while the crowd kept bumping into me. Pongal was a bit runny, maybe they add too much ghee. Mangalore buns were not that sweet for my taste.

Lunch : Curd rice with Potato Palya. This place is heaven for those who are on diet and need portion control. They give you these little cups with two spoons of potato. And charge around 150 for it.

So, I became wise and started going for the 199 Rs special lunch. I love the Ragi mudde in it. They do give you extras if you go back all the way to kitchen counter from the table, deserting your food. One time the staff helped us with extra sambar and poriyal.

Dinner: had to share my table with other customers on both of the occasions. Ragi and Akki roti combo is awesome. Maddur vada...

Visited Sashwatha Cafe with my parents and we ordered a little bit of everything: thatte idly, vada, poori sagu, onion masala dosa, plain masala dosa, filter coffee and mango milkshake. All of it was brilliant.

The thatte idly was soft, the vada was crisp, and the dosas were well-made with a good balance of texture and flavor. The poori sagu was comforting and satisfying. The filter coffee was good and exactly what you’d expect from a place like this.

One small detail I appreciated was the sambar being served in little cups with an opening to pour. Practical and neat. The sambar itself was good, with a touch of sweetness that you’d expect in an Udupi-style cafe. Same goes for the potato masala. You can’t really complain because that’s the style, and honestly, the sweetness worked.

The chutneys were good overall. One of them seemed to have turned, and when we told the staff, they changed it immediately and made a fresh batch. That kind of response is always good to see.

The only thing that didn’t work for me was the mango milkshake. It wasn’t sweet and had a mild bitterness from the mango. Just didn’t land well.

The place has a good ambience. They opened in March 2025, so hopefully they stay consistent and don’t go the way most cafes and restaurants tend to after the initial buzz.

To the owners, if you're reading this, you're off to a great start. Looking forward to...
