The Lady Connemara Bar & Lounge — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

We visited the Lady Connemara bar and it is one of the best bars in Chennai. Bars, according to me, should be spaces that allow conversations and not blare loud music and of course have the best cocktails, snacks and liquor.

We order lemon basil martini, old fashioned and Bloody Mary. Every cocktail hit the mark and exceeded expectations. Old Fashioned, a classic whiskey cocktail is one of my favorites. And no bar in Chennai can make it like the Lady Connemara. A hotel can only serve best cocktails when they have knowledgeable and courteous staff and we had two best bar men in Mr Stephan and Mr Prabha. Shocking. Taj seems to have taken their guests for granted. Like they don’t care about the place at all.

Service: very slow, though most of the time they only had 3 or 4 tables to serve. I had to approach the bar to order drinks cuz I grew tired of the wait. the staff were clueless about their offerings. Seems like they have not been trained. Ex. ‘Pinot Noir’ was mentioned as a brand. Staff reacted puzzled at the mention of some very Standard drinks .

Spent two days staying at The Taj Connemara. And having been born and raised in Chennai, had to pay a visit to the Lady Connemara bar. Almost an homage to my city.

Stephen, the Bar Manager, is a gem. The most courteous of people, the man has spent 34 years at The Connemara. He knows every nook and cranny of the place and stories galore.

Most of all, I just loved the ambience, the impeccable service and not to forget the delectable drinks on offer.
