Hello. Its your friendly guide Chan. Themed restaurants have become just an attraction today when compared to the exciting experience they used to offer about a decade ago. And the same goes for "The Rock". The ambience that it boasted off has now come down in shambles, courtesy of badly maintained and dull lit interiors. Yes, you get the feel of stepping into a forest, but in this case literally, since the basic requirements of hospitality aren't met. We dropped in on a Sunday evening when it was pouring cats and dogs outside. I had intimated them in advance that we were a family of four travelling by car, since I was well aware of the parking problems in and around Anna Nagar where the restaurant is located. The person who received the call told us they had tables available and park in would be helped by someone waiting outside. When we reached the spot, there was no one in sight to guide us on where to park ( I positively presumed that could be coz it was raining like the heavens gates had opened ). I called the restaurant again and informed them that we had reached and weren't able to get out due to the rain, for which we were told that someone would be coming to get us with an umbrella. So we wait for another 10 minutes and see some sort of activity at the entrance but no one approached us. I called them again and then someone made signs to bring our car over the platform as close as possible to the entrance and that we should hurry in to avoid getting drenched. Imagine doing this with 2 toddlers. But I obliged and we were finally inside albeit a bit drenched. But at least I could get the children to enjoy the ambience that I had done so a decade ago. But much to my disappointment everything inside was run down, from the tables which had paint peeling off to the waiters who didnt have the minutest of inclination of hospitality to show us to our table. We just wandered around and seated yourself at a far corner. Since i wanted to use the loo, i asked the person standing nearby where it was and was just answered with a nod in the general direction of the exit. I had to ask about and found that the loo was on the ground floor level ( the restaurant is located below ground level). Please do not use the restroom there. It was so badly maintained, leaking and the smell was awful. Just the sight was enough to send me hurrying back down. Coming to the main story, the food. I had decided on the buffet, since it costed just above Rs. 450. There was quite the bit of variety served complete with veg soup, starters, 2 seafood dishes, 2 chicken dishes, chicken biryani, a paneer gravy, fried rice, noodles, dessert ( gulab jamun), ice cream, but I should warn you, do not expect to get satisfied with the taste. To say it was average would be an overstatement. We were finally done filling our stomachs and left feeling so very sorry that what was once a great experience was reduced to such a nightmare. The only reprise was the pictures the kids took near the animal figures. I will not be visiting "The Rock" again anytime soon, unless the management takes efforts to at least upgrade the crumbling interiors. So if you are up for a thrill in the woods experience literally ( which includes tasteless food and bizarre service ) you should visit them for sure. Thats it for now. Until next...
Read moreThe restaurant setup is good we went all the way from Navallur to rock restaurant to experience the unlimited buffet, but I don't feel anything special they have prawn gravy but I don't find any prawn in it. We don't find any spicy dish in buffet everything is sweety . Restroom is not maintained properly in this covid situation. And at last I am sorry to say this the staffs and the manger behaviour is worst. Being in hospitality industry they doesn't know how to behave with the customer. They are rude to the customers. I really felt bad since I am a hotelier I see the difference from other place and this place. They mainly focus on A la carte customers.
Value for money - No Value for customers - No They don't know how to treat the customers. We as a family of 6 nos came and our bill amount is 2999/-. But we are not happy with the service. We travelled all the way to experience this worst service....
Management please rectify this issues:
Don't think you are in pash area any how you will get customers. No , customers will always go to the place where they get good customer service, Quality of the food, ambience,etc..
You should have something different from other restaurants. Not only with some statue and your interior decoration people will come to your restaurant. Customer should feel that this place is value for money then only they will...
