Good Day Guys,
I celebrated my Mother’s birthday at the Urban Spatula with my family. I found my way easily to this place with the help of Google maps.
I had selected this place mainly because of its ambience and I wanted the experience to be extra special keeping the occasion in mind. We were totally 4 people (i.e., 3 gents and a lady).
We started with the soups namely cream of Chicken and Hot and sour chicken which is my all-time favorite. The soup portion is sizeable and good enough for serving two people. The croutons could have been deep fried to give it its actual texture.
Being a Sunday I made sure that I ordered the starters in advance to get a head start on time,
The place was choc a bloc and buzzing with guests and ordering in advance is the key especially during weekends and public holidays. The decor lent an air of comfort and luxury though I personally felt the tables were a wee bit close to one another and warm lighting could add deeper contrast and character to the decor.
The Manager, Mr. Rafiq is very friendly and warm ,he had meticulously taken my order and also suggested a few delightful dishes for the afternoon.
The Paneer tikka, reshmi kebab, batter fried prawns with chutney were yummy yet quite filling.
For the main course I went with the Indian breads consisting of stuffed kulchaa, Butter Naan, Military Chicken Curry (Simply yummy and tasty with the butter naan) and Mutton Biryani. My Chinese order consisted of Chilly Garlic Veg Rice and Chicken Manchurian.
The main course was served a little over 10 mins after soup and starters. The portion was plenty and sizeable for our family of four people and we just about had enough to pack home as well.
A big thanks to my brother Prashant for suggesting this lovely restaurant for the occasion and as usual adding his magical touch to the afternoon.
Our billing was approximately 3k, Cost wise the prices are dear by 10%-25%. I will give 4 out of 5 for this restaurant for its location, Proximity, service, food, ambience, warmth and friendliness and not to forget the car parking which is a must nowadays.
The menu is not very large which is fine with me because it avoids confusion though the font selection can be better for greater visibility and readability.
The downside if you will like to call it was the close proximity of tables though all COVID-19 Pandemic protocols were being followed to a capital T with all cutlery carefully sanitized and wrapped in transparent foil and yes of course the flat lighting. (Warm lights lend more depth and character). Water was served in mineral bottles and is chargeable.(can be complimentary)
Hope you liked my review of the restaurant and please don't forget to give it a thumbs up and share it with your friends and family. Cause...

Ordered: Tandoori Chicken
I don't even know where to begin with the nightmare I experienced at Urban Spatula tonight. I wish I could give zero stars, but Zomato won't allow it. This wasn't just a bad meal; it was a serious public health hazard. I ordered their Tandoori Chicken, expecting a classic, smoky, and perfectly cooked dish. Instead, upon taking the very first bite, my fork scraped against something unnervingly soft. To my horror and utter disgust, the chicken was COMPLETELY RAW inside, visibly oozing with blood! The outside had some char, deceptively, but the interior was a horrifying, bloody mess. This is beyond undercooked; this is a blatant and dangerous act of negligence. Serving poultry in such a state is a direct pathway to severe food poisoning (think Salmonella, Campylobacter) and is an absolute breach of basic food safety standards. It's truly a miracle I noticed it before consuming more. The thought alone is enough to make me physically ill.
This isn't a minor kitchen error; it's a fundamental failure in food preparation that puts customers' lives at risk. I immediately brought it to the attention of the staff, and while they eventually took it back, the damage was done. The lack of proper cooking hygiene evident here is terrifying.
Urban Spatula needs an immediate food safety audit. This is not just a review; this is a warning. DO NOT risk your health here. I sincerely hope the relevant authorities take swift action. #FoodSafetyHazard #RawChicken #TandooriTerror #UrbanSpatula #AvoidAtAllCosts #ChennaiFood #Unacceptable #HealthRisk...
Read moreFood - Very nice. Better than usual fine dining. Not the template taste. Felt little over priced for the quantity.
Tried usual items like biryani, tandoori chicken, hot-sour soup etc, along with few more. Most are good taste. slightly better than usual resturant taste.
Starters - Onion Ring, Cheese Toast, Chicken Skewer, Tandoori, Chicken Wings. All are fine. Dips and Fries came with that are also good. Plating was special one to mention, Was very nice.
Soups - Cream Soups, Clear Soups, HotSour.. all tastes usual template taste. Slightly somewhat better than usual.
Main - Mutton Biryani - Too soggy, Very less spicy, less flavorful.
Rotis, Naan, Kabuli - Expected little more taste , but usual one. Kabuli went almost like flat roti with butter and cashew toppings.
Pastas - Very nice.
Plattng - It's a main point to mention. All plating done really awesome. Really good and notable work.
Dessert - Tres leches, Taste ok. But size disappointed. Same goes to Gulab Jamun. Over priced for that taste and quantity.
Service - Very good. Very helpful in suggesting. Very well aware of availability and supportive in customizing. Very quick. Very responsive.
Ambient - Good. Not much spacious. But ok for small gang, couple, small family. Well lit. Well decorated, Well seating setup. Slightly crowed even in weekday evening. But early bird gets good space.
Over all... nice place for good dining. Believe can repeat any time for promizing...
