Woman running it was abusive.
I was served a fake bottle of water, it tasted of petrol. This means they are buying water with fake bottles, which isn't so uncommon. I told the owner. She abused me. The waiter had spat the water out.
I was given an alternate bottle, as per manufacturer instructions, I crushed it afterwards to prevent reuse.
When I told the owner she went nuts. The previous day she had been abusing an other customer for staying too long.
This time she abused me and was religiously insulting.
In her response on trip advisor she lied. Said I smashed the plastic bottle. Said she didn't charge the mrp but got "no profit", said I said I was going to die. And ends with 'sending peace'.
Which is nonsense. It is dangerous to sell repackaged water. People could get sick. She does get a profit. She deliberately lied in her response.
Why? It's abusive. Her character defamation is also unacceptable. Because of a small problem she really laid into me and tried to make me feel terrible. Repeating mantras at me even though she knew I was Christian. Not apologising. Just really belittling me as if I had done something wrong. Screaming; "YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T LIKE US! GET OUT!"
And then her Trip Advisor response continued the belittlement and ends with "sending him peace" as if I am mad to question her and am deranged. Which is cruel. Horrid. Unnecessary.
I wouldn't trust her, her food or going here. If you criticise she will freak out. And it's not safe. Avoid...
Read moreA cozy little terrace converted into a sitting area with limited seats just behind Assi Ghat. Variety of veg/vegan menus, lovely cakes, bun makes this place very unique. Every item served here are prepared by them. Very clean and well trained staff. I ordered a white sauce vegetable pasta. It was good, but was quite blond, very less spicy. The owner tried to help me with some additional home made tomato sauce. Unfortunately, I could not consume as I was used to spicy gravy pasta. The owner refused to charge me since I did not enjoy the pasta. She was so kind and made me to understand that all her food items are targeted to serve western customers and hence less spicy. But the cake, bun, bread served were out of the world. I need to visit again to taste their food. Strongly recommended Aum Cafe for anyone...
Read moreThe aum cafe is actually a small cute cafe in Assi Ghat area. On the bottom floor, foreigners can enjoy the indian and Varanasi handicrafts. It is owned by a foreigner herself who has adapted to indian culture. She has opened the cafe for her fellow mates, who doesn't like so much spicy foods like Indians, we tried herb pasta which was blunt for indian tongues, they concentrate more on simple food mixed with herbs and medicinal plants, what we call sattvik bhojan. We tried pancakes chocolate chips which were good. Their shakes were not so tempting and ambience was nice with books to read through, u can spend your afternoons here when at Varanasi for a tour. Very friendly staff and good service. I am rating it 3 from...
