Purple Dhaba — Restaurant in Uttarakhand

I've been coming here for more than a decade. I'm always looking to have an authentic experience whenever I travel and therefore I seek out the local cuisine. The food here has been consistently good and flavourful.

They do have an upstairs dining room with windows facing the Ganges river that is more relaxed than the busy downstairs at street level. When sitting upstairs it can sometimes be challenging to get the attention of the wait staff but that's almost to be expected in India.

Worth mentioning is that they must've changed their policy regarding food being cooked for foreigners. While it never was an issue in the past they are apparently leaving out the "spice" these days. To me the food had never been particularly spicy in the first place but a rather perfect level of heat. As a non Indian make sure that if you want to eat the same as the locals do to mention it. Otherwise it may just be a tad too bland.

Having said that, it does remain to be my favorite authentic North Indian restaurant in Laxman Jhula area.

They have recently redone the place to make it look more appealing. Keep in mind though that it does remain a dhaba and the comfort level is simple. Prices are fair. Portions are generous. Food is way above average, clean and consistent. It's worth checking out if you're in the mood for tasty and authentic North Indian food.

Also, the masala chai is just the way it should be, as is the garlic butter naan. That alone is coming here...

On my way to laxman jhula ...I was searching for the hygienic and good place to fulfill my hunger...

Then I stopped at this place... not so crowded even on the weekend ... easily found the place to sit...

I ordered veg deluxe thali .... which includes 2 butter roti paneer Dal makhani Rice Papad Raita Salad

And also glass full of sweet LASSI ....

Service was so quick and fast .. within 5 to 10 min I get my order on table...

Presentation was good and tempting tooo...

They serve tandoori butter roti.... And we all know that great skills and professionalism required for operating tandoor .... and yes I am satisfied completely...

Taste was awesome... it's looks so fresh ...

And main thing about any restaurant or place is there staff ... all staff members are good..

Interior as name suggest includes purple walls gives so unique look ...

We were looking for a Thali place while walking around Laxman Jula and found this small yet nice place with good Veg Thali options. We ordered Purple Dhaba Special Thali and Deluxe Thali as both Thali’s were offering different vegetables and tandoor options. Dhaba is located just near to The Laxman Jhula, Rishikesh on small local shopping market street. Dhaba is relatively small and has around 6-8 tables with fresh ambiance which looked good.

The food at this place is actually very tasty and the portion of all the dish items is really good if we compare it with prices. Special Thali - 1 Butter Naan, 2 Butter Roti, Malai Kofta, Daal Tadka, Jira Rice, Papad, Curd, Salad and Pickle Deluxe Thali - 3 Butter Roti, Paneer Kadai, Daal Makhani, Jira Rice, Papad, Salad, Raita and Pickle. Staff wasn’t attentive and we had to call them again and again for water, salad, Roti etc Overall it was a good experience to enjoy Veg Thali...
