Situated on the 2nd floor of DLF Galleria this place is in the middle of a Ghost town more or less. Given the empty building, its a bit difficult to spot, but inside it's lively, owing to the micro brewery that occupies a large portion of the pub. Afternoons aren't the ideal time to visit as it's usually vacant and the staff are on the verge of dozing off.
Positives first, the BEER is great. Flavorful, unique (if you've grown up drinking kingfisher), reasonably priced and decent variety. Read : German, Belgian, Scottish and Premium craft. Seating is good with Choice of high chairs, sofas etc. Smoking outside the pub is allowed.
Negatives, wait for it. Service - abysmal, the guys have no clue what's what, no clue about the flavors, no clue about quantity, no clue about which will be served faster, and in our case botched up the order and apologized 1.5 hrs later saying here's free papad we'll prepare it soon.
Food- if possible avoid. The country roads non veg platter, Rs. 599 for food not worth 299. Some fluffs, a tandoori leg, some wings and chicken pieces on the side. The yakitori was decent but schezwan potato? Seriously? I'd rather have lays or Cheetos. There's no free chakna either. Now we're middle class people with new money. Hence the difference between a au gratin and calamari is Hebrew, we need explanation. 404 not found.
Menu card- yes it's wooden, Yes it's bad, it's terrible, it's a disaster Just why? Make it leather clad, make it a single piece of cardboard / engraved wood like Byloom but no. It falls off. It's heavy. It occupies too much space.
Ambience- the space isn't large so cannot expect much. Still not counting it as a negative. But it's a bit dark and the decor is more or less average.
So overall, I would recommend it ONLY for the beer. Keep in mind the distance, average food and mediocre service before you venture out there. All the best...
ย ย ย Read moreCountry roads is already a favorite among residents of Newtown and adjoining areas, and quite rightly so.
Have been coming here for last 3 yrs or so and it always feels good. Food is good both the continental and Indian side. Special mention for the fried and salt &pepper versions of kalamari, beer batter fish fingers and chicken wings. I was quite surprised to find the naan and jeera rice was as good as any other Indian speciality restaurant.
Now for the main attraction...being a craft beer loyalist I adore the Belgian blonde and Scottish ales both golden in color with slight undertones of caramel. The German weizen has a taste of malt and i found it slightly dry. I haven't tasted the premium.
Other than this the cocktails are pretty standard - the tequila sunrise, LIIT, sangria, margarita, whiskey sour ( they have both egg and non egg options)are all taste worthy. Adventurous people can try the beamer if LIIT is too light for you๐
Seating options are plentiful, both sofas and high chairs ...or you might sit at the bar. They have hookah as well although there is no separate section for that and you might find yourself with a smoky neighbour.
Washrooms are separate for men and women but quite small, only 2 at a time at Max.
DLF Galleria offers enough parking both inside and outside on the adjoining roads and if you are drinking and don't have a designated driver ( not recommended) then there are plenty of driver apps which will deliver a driver to DLF Galleria who will drive you home.
Typical bill value for a couple with 2 large beers and 2 small top ups/ 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, 1 main course and naan/rice is around 3k - 3.5k.
Enjoy...
ย ย ย Read moreWe are going to this place since 2017, have many memories here , used to be one of our most favourite pub in the town - not only for their spread but ambience and behaviour everything was worth going! We went 2 months back as well, but today it was horrible experience. During the happy hours we went to the pub , and ordered our usual beer with 2 plates of chicken yakitori and octopus fried in spice As usual the behaviour of the staff was good , service was fast BUT the FOOD! OMG! It was worse than any roadside takeaway joint even . The chicken was terribly spicy and hot! And the octopus was horribly salty! While informing it to the staff , he brought their executive chef to our table! And he surprised us by saying " mam i am a continental chef and u gave tasted it, I don't find it hot" .. but very reluctantly he changed the octopus, and turned it to a random chilly fried indo Chinese dish! As we have so many good memories with the place i didn't argue with the chef , but his dishes left us SICK and made me writing this review. Chef i would like to inform you that , those dishes were oriental NOT continental and second thing no matter what kind of chef are you, your tastebud should not be according to your speciality! And serving whole fried fried red chilly in a yakitori...well i don't know! I feel bad writing this review about this place, but as many time as i am vomiting since afternoon, i am feeling more determined about writing this, so the owners of this lovely place dig into the matter and work on getting back...
