This is not a review of Restaurant, I am writing about my experience of 1.5 years in chennai in 2009 and during that time how I got connected to this simple restaurant. It started with just finding affordable good quality food in this area and it became routine after few days. Food is just normal food which you will get in thousand restaurants in chennai but at that time the staff was so whole heartedly , I felt like i am eating at home. And that too being Gujarati , Finding home in chennai is surreal experience. I still remember all the small details of staff used to do to please their customer. believe me we never talk much but they used to get everything without me not talking and they understand me as customer. You dont get that anywhere. This post is just a tribute to all the people who was working, who are working and who will be working here that I still remembers everyone smiling face and I still remember last day when I almost got tears in my eyes while parting with amazing Staff this restaurant had. I wish all of you people great life and Pray for you guys. I probably dont remember each one of your face but I remember your pure heart and enlightening smile which used to make my day brighter everyday. Thanks for being there to help me remember good memories in chennai. I dont have any photos but i dont need it....
Read moreI visited Hot Chips for an evening snack and tried a variety of chat items, including papdi chat and bhel puri. The food was freshly prepared, but it didn’t quite stand out. The papdi chat had a good mix of crunchy papdi, yogurt, and tangy chutneys, but the flavors didn’t feel as vibrant as expected. The bhel puri was decent, with the right balance of puffed rice and chutneys, but it lacked the zing that makes it truly memorable.
The restaurant also serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, offering a variety of Indian snacks and meals throughout the day. While the snacks were average, I’ve heard their other offerings like dosas, idlis, and more substantial meals are a popular choice. The samosas were crispy, though the filling was quite basic, and the dosa was crispy but needed more seasoning in the filling.
The place is small but always packed, making it a popular spot for a quick bite. However, the crowded space can feel a little uncomfortable. Overall, while Hot Chips is a decent spot for casual snacks, it doesn’t offer anything particularly unique or exceptional. If you're looking for a place with a wider range of flavors or more memorable meals, there might be better...
Read moreWorst place to eat ever. No proper lighting, very less ventilation, unclean tables and plates, very limited menu and moreover overpriced products. We were totally disappointed by such a bad place in the name of Hot Chips. Also, they charge 2 to 5 rupees extra, stating it as GST for every product. In total, if u wanna go to a pure veg restaurant, there are many good ones. Please don't go there. We go there out of choice, due to shopping at cotton house. Last time, when we went there, I found a plastic piece in the channa masala, while feeding my kid. I was so shocked and asked the service men about it. They apologized for it. But at the end of the day, it was me and my kid, and I know that apology is not gonna save us from health issues. I quietly left the place, and decided not to turn back to the place, even my kid die of hunger. I'm going to make him walk and search for other foods. Please don't eat there, especially if you...
