A Must-Visit Vegetarian Delight in Velachery – Namma Veedu Vasantha Bhavan
I had the pleasure of visiting Namma Veedu Vasantha Bhavan recently, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations on every front. Located in a prime spot in Velachery, this newly opened restaurant is hard to miss.
From the moment I arrived, the experience was impressive. The huge parking facility made it extremely convenient, and the ambience and interior décor are simply top-notch – elegant, modern, and thoughtfully designed to offer a relaxed dining experience. Every staff member, right from the security personnel to the support staff, was exceptionally courteous and welcoming, which added to the overall positive vibe of the place.
I ordered the VB GOLD South Indian Thali, and it was a feast to remember! I began with chapathi and a paneer side dish – which, interestingly, is not commonly served in South Indian thalis. The paneer was soft, flavorful, and a delightful surprise. The mini bonda was hot and crispy with just the right amount of spice and flavor. Moving on to the main course – sambar, rasam, kootu, mor kuzhambu, cabbage poriyal, and peas poriyal – each dish was wonderfully cooked and bursting with authentic South Indian flavors, with aromatic hints of garlic enhancing the taste here and there. The steamed rice was served hot, making the entire meal feel homely and satisfying. I ended the thali with a bowl of fresh curd, which was the perfect finish to a hearty meal.
I also tried their Veg Omelette, which turned out to be a delicious twist resembling a vegetable chilla, delicately spiced with black pepper. Light, flavorful, and healthy – definitely worth trying!
One standout feature that caught my attention was the shoe polish machine in the hand wash area – a thoughtful and unique touch that shows how much attention has been given to customer comfort and experience. Kudos to the shift manager Mr. Dharma for being a wonderful host.
Overall, Namma Veedu Vasantha Bhavan is an excellent addition to Velachery’s food scene. Whether you’re dining with family, friends, or even solo, this place offers great food, warm hospitality, and a pleasant environment. Highly...
Read moreWent to VB World in Velachery today. It was jam packed thanks to Independence Day, but at least there was plenty of parking. The place is huge, with a cafe called Cones & Brew and the main VB World restaurant where we had lunch.
Cones & Brew was big and had a lot of dessert options, but a single pastry was around 350 to 400. I mean seriously, not worth it for that price.
At VB World, we had to wait around 15 minutes for a table. Once inside, we ordered mushroom cappuccino soup which was good, and coconut pumpkin soup which was just average. Starters were veg prawns which were spicy and drowned in unhealthy mayo (texture was ok though), and Korean paneer popcorn which was a disaster. Not crispy, didn’t even look like paneer popcorn, and on top of that they forgot to serve it until our main course came. We had to remind them, and then they brought it after another 10 minutes.
For mains, naan and Kashmiri naan were hard and just okay. Paneer biryani was fine. Paneer butter masala was too sweet. Portion sizes were so small for dishes priced between 350 and 450 that we had to order mushroom fried rice. That came so late we ended up telling them to just pack it. Many things we wanted, like kathal biryani and lotus stem starter, were not available. Why keep it on the menu if you can’t serve it daily?
The service was late but the staff was polite. But here’s the shocker – they served in plastic plates instead of proper glass or ceramic ones. For such a so-called high-class veg restaurant, this is just unacceptable. Even a small mess would serve in decent plates.
The ambiance was nice but lighting could have been better. For a brand new place of this size, the food quality was really poor. Not...
Read moreDisappointing experience- Poor service, and below average meals. My recent visit to this restaurant was extremely disappointing, especially considering the price point and the expectation set by fancy appearance.
Merits: Fancy place Excellent ambience Extended menu to choose Good parking facilities Overall neat and clean
Demerits: Lack of basic service Unskilled staff/waiters Poor standard in Thali. Never try 👎 Lack of coordination within staff Serves cold food
During our recent visit to this place, the South Indian Thali, was a complete let down. The food quality was poor, nowhere near authentic and definitely not worth the ₹400 they charge. What made things worse was the terrible service. The waiters lack basic service skill. They would simply place the food on table and walk away without providing required plates. All of them would assemble away from the tables and get into some discussion, leaving the customer. We had to repeatedly search for them to get the basics, all staffs were untrained. If they can’t manage a regular 12:30 PM crowd. I seriously doubt how they will function during holiday rush. Our ordered meals were not replenished on time, and when we asked for something as simple as Sambar, it took over 10 minutes to arrive in a tiny cup. The A la carte items that we ordered were somewhat better, but that doesn’t make up for the poor handling of regular meals.
My experience, Overall, this place seems to be more about show than substance, I feel this place as big price, low quality and...
