Meating Room — Restaurant in Zone 9 Teynampet

Having heard very good things about the Meating Room from our son Reihem we decided to give it a try, and ordered takeaway and got Porter to get it to us. The food arrived well packed and still warm. First impressions: the Slow Cooked Pork Ribs, Napa Grilled Cabbage with Coconut Curry Sauce, BBQ Wings and the Long Fries were outstanding! The Roast Pork came second and the Jerk Spiced Chicken third. Over all an excellent meal. The ingredients were very, very good and we actually got to taste them because the sauces, though flavourful, tasty and nuanced, did not drown the meats and vegetables but added to them. The portions were right. The meats were cooked tender and juicy and the vegetable crisp and fresh. The tastes and flavours were subtle and sort of reminded you of what good food at home used to be like. And, mort importantly, you ended the meal satisfied but not stuffed or uncomfortable. So, would we recommend the Meating Room to others? Emphatic yes! Will we come back for more? More emphatic yeses! We are senior citizens and when we build up enough courage we will come by to eat at the Meating Room to enjoy your service and hospitality. Before going here, you need to feel like a hungry Lion. It is a meat lovers delight. Yes! Meat. Meat and more meat. Vegetarians? Sorry... this is not for you. You are 'game',😉! Now that we are clear, let's check out the food. Pricey? Yes. Taste? Fabulous. Presentation? Great. Service? Efficient. The meats are done to perfection, by what seems like an army of 8 people in a 5/10 ft kitchen! Steaks are sold by weight and fall into Premium and Grade 1 cuts. Both are delicious and to the Indian palate, starved of good steaks, this feels heavenly. One does miss the options of getting veggies (steamed, boiled, grilled etc) with the steaks. That's disappointing. And for beverages, you just get the standard Coke/Pepsi type junk. A sadly overlooked detail, in my opinion. A lemonade, iced tea, fresh juice... anything but carbonated synthetics Please. Desserts are like a coin. Just 2 sides to it. Toffee or Strawberry cheesecake... 🤔. Ok...heads I win, tails you loose. Overall a place I'd recommend, for sure. But next time, I'm smuggling in some grilled garden...

I think my review would sum up the reviews here! From my experience yesterday, The space is small, but their hospitality and service really stand out. The staff was attentive and kind, even offering my friend a complimentary dish for us to try, and they checked up on us to ensure we were enjoying the meal.

As for the food, everything was cooked really well, and the quality of the steaks was evident—likely imported. However, the price wasn’t justifiable for me, especially for the steaks. I’ve tasted similar quality in places like Kobe Sizzlers, Goldmans, and even Writers Cafe, and those didn’t come with such a steep price tag.

That said, this is just my perspective as a regular diner. If you have a specific preference for premium, imported meats, this place could be perfect for you. I enjoyed the food overall, but for someone like me, there are similar options that are less expensive. Nevertheless, the people at Meeting Room truly elevate the experience with their warmth and hospitality, wish them...
