This restaurant is here for almost more than 6 years, And I have visited this place several times. It is one of my favourite places to dine. I have some positives and negatives to share. The positive is that this restaurant offers the best Japanese food and also provides good entertainment. They have wide variety of sushi. They even have raw sea food sushi. It's really worth a try. The taste is indescribable, it only has to be tasted. They offer a peculiar sauce with horse radish paste, it is called wasabi, I tried to taste it but it left me with a sting in my tongue. It tastes very strong. But once mixed with the sauce and eaten with the Sushi it becomes magic. They serve a very special rice which is very sticky but tastes really awesome. They have combination menu as well as ala carte menu, you can choose whatever you like.
Then for the entertainment part, the chef cooks the food in front of us. The awesome thing here is that the chef is very friendly and also does lot of juggling with the cooking utensils. Sometimes he also does magic. Egg juggling was the one show that freaked me out. Me and my family enjoy being in here.
Now for the negatives, the biggest hole in this restaurant is the price of there menu. For a meal for two you definitely will require minimum amount of INR 2500 for a good dining experience. The cost of sushi is way too high, it starts from 500 to 3000. I mean for a single dish of two pieces. You will have to spend about minimum 900 for a sushi to get a good one. Then the second negative aspect is that they have only two tables for live shows. Having said all this, I really highly recommend this place, which is worth checking out at least once. Please do encourage me by clicking the...
Read moreTeppan as a Japanese restaurant was once the pinnacle and the best place for Japanese food in Chennai. Unfortunately as time has gone by they have fallen far from where they once were. “How far the might have fallen”.
The issues : The first item tuna sashimi the tunas picture in the menu is misleading (Red) Where as what actually comes is a “supposed purple” but turns out to be brown . the tuna itself was brittle and crumbling The arrangement slapped together And the cut was sloppy sloppy sloppy 2.salmon sashimi despite complaining about the tuna Was tough for salmon And the portion was like 4 edamame piece slices 3
Positives The temaki was nicely sized But expensive Good taste as well And the samurai maki was just decent.
It also isn’t the fact of availablilty of meats and ingredients at affordable prices as other restaurants have had no problems running and succeeding , at an even cheaper cost than teppan.
I don’t mean to insult teppan or the staff but I really felt that it has lost its flair
I hope that this is seen and acted on in a manner that would help the restaurant.
Unfortunately I haven’t tried the live counter so I have based my views on the main starters and...
