I'm a big big fan of seafood so I had to try this place when in Chennai. :) What's so cool about this restaurant is that it has a variety of fresh seafood on display and you can choose the fish you want to eat cooked in whichever way you want (Fried, Bbq, curry, Indian or chinese). So that was a bonus! Got to try different seafood cooked in different masalas. The quantity and the quality of the food is so worth the price. We had ordered *Exotic clear noodle soup - One of the best soups I've had in a while. *Crispy Corn in golden baskets - Fried corn mixed with sweet and tangy sauce and served in edible baskets. It was so so goooood. A must try. :) *Black pomfret hariyali tandoor , White pomfret tikka tandoor , Red snapper afghani tandoor - The fish tasted really delicious. But it had too much masala which wasn't cooked properly. So that was a big no no for me *Salmon cooked in lemon, butter and garlic - seasoned well and cooked to perfection! Loved it *Naan basket - Butter naan, plain naan, Cheese naan and garlic naan. Very very soft and delish. *Malabar fish curry - Lady fish worked so well for this curry. A must try! *Plain Rice For desserts we had ordered *Spanish Tresleche - The cake tasted so so bad and it was nothing close to an actual tresleche *Caramel Popcorn Sundae - The ice cream tasted like a very low quality one and the popcorn was very soggy *Churros - It was soaking in oil. So so disappointing

On the whole the food was awesome! The desserts disappointing. Great service and friendly staff who are always ready to help you with what to order. Great ambience. And oh, they also have...

If you are a sead food lover, then 'The Marina' is the To Go place!! I just love this restaurant anytime, any day; and today it turned out to be even more special, "Kerala Seafood Festival - Getaway to Malabar Coast" (10 Nov - 10 to Dec, 2017). The Marina, is like your own private fish market, as you enter. You get to pick your choice from the variety of fresh fish from their counter, quantity you wish to eat and they will cook it for your taste and the way you like it. We started off with a welcome drink "Nannari Sherbet (Sarasaparilla drink) with basil seeds, followed by a "Sea Food Soup". Our choice of starters were - "Pan Fried Squid", "Kanthari Tawa Fry" (Mahi Mahi fish fillet in the traditional masala with kanthari chilli), "Nethili Fish Fry"(anchovies fish fry), "Honey and Garlic Calamari" (crispy fried squid), King Fish sauteed in butter and garlic. The main course was amazing with traditional kerala parotta (flat bread) and appam (type of pancake) along with curries "Moilee"(Prawn cooked in coconut milk and ginger) and "Chatti curry"(choice of fish cooked in clay pot). Don''t miss to try "Kerala Matta Rice"(Red rice) and fish curry combination!!. We chose to have "Pineapple Pudding" and the typical kerala delicacy "Äda Pradhaman/Paayasam" (dessert with rice flakes, coconut milk, jaggery) to conclude:) . They got a chef from the authentic malabari place "Kozhikode" in Kerala to feast us !! If you are in Chennai, never miss "The...

I went with my family last week, owing to high ratings 4.8. The images and reviews pictures good image of the place, which will nudge you to make a visit there. It did to me. My mother was visiting Chennai, and owing to review, rating, an live seafood counter images made me reserve a seat there. We were 4 people. Reaching the restaurant, the place seems good, staffs are welcoming. We selected items like lobster of around 6k, live crab, fish and prawns. Chose our grill option, and was anticipating our food to come to our table. It came one by one. Prawan were good (3/5 rating), then came crab, fish and finally lobster. It was such a disappointment that I have never faced a restaurant over a food item. None of them had taste that could be said of a seafood. We have eaten these things before. So, we knew the taste. It felt like you are eating something, what?.. you don't know. It's all overwhelmed spices, salt, only. I was so embarrassed to see my mother's reaction to them. Never always think that a high ratings restaurant can deliver good food always. I am so disappointed. I spent around 12k on only these 4 things plus 4 drinks. I am saying in a sense when I am not sure what choices did we make during the preparation that I came out so bad. I have not come to a conclusion yet. The staff was good, welcoming, but, it's not what you went to a restaurant for. Rest, your choices. Overall...

So, let me start out with few of the details which might help the people who wants to try this place for the first time. Since I took the table on the group floor, you will catch the sea food smell or some might feel stinking fish smell as the stalls are very close to your dining table. Apart from this I don't think anything will make you guys feel awkward here at The Marina. I will just talk about the food that I (for 4 of us) ordered from the stall, 1) Seer fish 500g (pan fried) 2) Jumbo prawns 750g (barbeque) 3) Seer fish fingers 250g 4) Pomfret fry for 2 people (Indian style) Trust me, my wife is very very particular when it comes to non vegetarian food. She double checks if it is cleaned properly, cooked properly and main thing is, it should not have that fishy odor. But here in The Marina, she enjoyed everything. No odor and it was freaking delicious. Things we ordered from the menu, 1) Kerala Chicken curry 2) Naan 3) Barota 4) Prawn Fried rice 5) Kit kat mousse (bloody delicious one) Everything were just deliciously cooked. No complaints. And the staffs were so kind and had patience when we were struggling with what to order after seeing varities of sea food at the stall. Cons; Since they cook starter from scratch, it will be taking time. Which I don't find it wrong at all. Some might feel, that's why I am mentioning it here Pros; Everything that I have said. Worth the visit guys.
