BGS Ubud - Coffee Bar & Lifestyle Shop — Restaurant in Bali

This strikes me as a place you will either love or dislike. Not hate, the staff here are too nice to use such a word, but I must be honest, it is not my kind of place. But judging from most of the people around me inside BGS, if this is your kinda vibe, you will love it!

If you don't like rock music, lots of dogs, lots of smokers, and a kind of minimalist, concrete decor (nothing Balinese here and not much nature) you will not like it. It's a surfer style place really - lots of people sitting outside on the steps chatting. And there's a lot going on - people moving around, greeting others, chatting loudly etc. If you want somewhere chilled and sedate, this isn't the place. If you love socializing, chatting with owners/regulars, just generally hanging out, you will probably say this is a cool, vibrant Cafe. I won't say anything negative about it, just depends on your taste.

What I will say a little negative was the food. Average blueberry Danish, average smoothie bowl (no fruit toppings, just smoothie and some seeds) and poor hot chocolate - not sweet, couldn't taste any chocolate, was like warm milk. Compared to most places in Ubud (and I live here) it was well below average.

Service was good though, staff and owner are friendly and welcoming. They are not trying to be like most other Ubud cafés, so fair play to them. They are different, more Canggu surfer vibe. Give them a try if that's...

Ну что ж, вчера моя жена с подругой сидели в этой кофейне и выпили очень вкусный кофе, она присылала фото и действительно, видно было, что его готовил профи, я кофейный сноб, и для меня тема кофе очень важна, я на остров с собой привез все девайсы что бы готовить кофе дома, зная, что здесь с ним проблемы (отсутствие обжарок, недостаточная квалификация местных бариста и тд), но когда я видел фото от жены, я был удивлен и уже на следующий день (сегодня) приехал его пробовать, но к моему разочарованию, ожидания были разбиты как только я увидел как готовят этот кофе, закладка в холдере была кривой, выравнивателя на баре нет, молоко было не просто не правильно взбито, за ним даже не следили😂 парень просто засунул в молочник вспениватель, поставил молочник на подставку и смотрел на улицу, это вообще ужас, а как же правильный угол входа носика вспушивателя?, как же эмульгация молока?, выравнивание что бы в последствии сделать латте арт?, я молчу уже про температуру, она в каждом напитке будет разной, ибо парень не держит молочник в руке, в общем, как уже понятно, нам принесли не то, что бы отвратиетльный кофе, по вкусу он был нормальным, по крайней мере мой, но у жены в этот раз кофе был сильно перегрет, молоко не взбито, а просто нагрето и вкус кофе был сожженым, это говорит либо о пережаренном зерне, либо о слишком высокой температуре на группе кофемашины (к слову она здесь хорошая). Итог таков, если вы, как и я, кофейный сноб, то приходить на кофе можно лишь когда на смене работает бариста а не помощник бариста или кто был сегодня я не знаю, но я точно знаю что этот парень ничего не смыслит в приготовлении кофе😂 Но, если вам не так, как мне, важен вкус кофе - это очень прикольное заведение, стильное, инстаграмное, с прикольным толстым псом, который ходит туда-сюда как администратор,...

By far the best coffee and cool vibes in Bali! Their almond milk is other worldly, a creation of the Gods maybe. The staff invite you in with brimming smiles, fist pumps and a warm heart, genuinely interested in who you are and where you come from. As for the cookies — let’s hope the Cookie Monster from Sesame Street never finds out about BGS. The smoothies are very well priced and give most smoothie shops a run for their money.
