was excited to come to Mrs Sippy as my friend had come last summer and had raved about this place. Visited on 16 Jan 2019. Showed a photo of a smoothie bowl on their Instagram to two of the staff as I wanted to order it, but they did not know what it was. They asked another staff (who I assume is more senior) and got my smoothie bowl. This aside, the staff are generally helpful and polite. Bacon pizza and pulled pork burger were alright - pizza dough is good. Called 5 more friends to come join us as this was our last day in Bali. Decided to stay on for dinner before heading back to our hotel to grab our luggage and head for the airport. Saw they had Sippy Hour from 5-6pm. Our first order was taken. Was a bit shocked at the prawn pizza when it came, as the prawn was the size of my nail (see photo) and smelt funky like it wasn’t fresh. My pizza also had a strand of hair in it. But that’s fine, I just picked out the hair and continued with the meal as I know it can be tough in the F&B line. My 5 other friends who came wanted to enjoy Sippy Hour too, and made their order at 5.45pm. At 5.56pm (iPhone time), the manager approached us to tell us he couldn’t take our order because no promotion and the bar was closed. We asked why as it was clearly within the promo period, he said no more as he cannot tell the bartenders to make our drinks. We showed him the timing but he just kept repeating no. We said this is misrepresenting as their poster said in black and white that it was till 6pm. He said the point of sales system promo turned off and he was unable to do anything. That was a blatant lie as he had the Raptor point of sales system card hanging around his neck. And how can a manger not have access to apply a promo. Please, I’ve worked in an F&B before. We persisted in asking why, and he finally said too many orders so he cannot give the promo. It was ridiculous; they should have put "while stocks last" or "last order at 5.45pm" then. If you’re unwilling to execute the promotion, you shouldn’t put out a poster in the first place. The manager refused to give us the discount and walked away so we cancelled our order. It was only when he saw me posting a review on Instagram that he came back and asked us what our order was. He then walked away. When the food arrived, we realised he had processed our order for food and drinks, without asking us if we wanted to proceed. We ate quickly and left. This is the most distasteful experience I’ve ever had. To think it wasn’t even crowded that day, and we were one of the higher spending customers. We had ordered mains, bites, smoothies/juices and cocktails. And 3 out of 8 of us had eaten at Mrs Sippy for BOTH lunch and dinner. Oh yes, i had diarrhoea the next two days. Another 2 of my friends vomited and had diarrhoea. I went to the Doctor’s and was diagnosed with food poisoning. You tell...
Read moreI went to Mrs Sippy on a Saturday and paid $200 for a day bed. During the day we had used up all of the deposit and I asked to open a tab. I gave them my card however, however I did not have any ID and they advised me I would not be able to open a tab. I asked them what I could do to continue ordering and the lady advised me I could pay a further amount onto the deposit rather than pay individually each time for items and have to consistently tap my card, making it more convenient for myself and the wait staff. Towards the end of the day I asked to close the tab and was advised I had $40 left. I was then told were no refunds. I told the lady that I had not been advised this previously and that I would have paid individually for each item if I had been told. The lady disappeared and 20 minutes later I had to flag down another member of staff and reexplain the situation. Eventually someone who I believe to be the manager came over to speak to me. During our interaction I spoke to him extremely calmly and explained the situation. He proceeded to scream and shout at me at the top of his voice calling me a liar etc etc. it was so so embaressing. everyone around me was just staring. This was also in front of children. I tried to calm him down and explain that I was not accusing anyone of anything untoward, but simply there had been some kind of miscommunication. He offered to refund the money if I ‘really wanted it back’. After saying yes he proceeded to shout at me again, then ask me again if I really wanted the money back. This continued about 6 times over a 15 minute period. It felt like he was just wanted to wear me down, which he in fact did. I asked him if he would just give me half back and he could keep the other half as a tip. He immediately agreed and got me my money.
I’m honestly disgusted. I don’t believe the initial girl I spoke to was trying to do anything untoward or scam me I think she just forgot to mention there wouldn’t be a refund. However the managers actions were unacceptable. Being aggressive and using scare tactics to make me drop and it and me ultimately having to bribe him for him to do the right thing. I have never ever been spoken to or treated like this in any hospitality venue.
I would not recommend this place anyone, I would never come back. And anyone that does go, be extremely careful with your money and staff...
Read moreWe got to Mrs sippy early and got one of the beach chairs that was aparently in the shade. To get one of these chairs, you either need to have a minimum spending of $600k Bali money. There's a $1m option also. Sounds scary expensive but with a group of friends this is easily achievable. My friends and I thought we should've just paid for the $1m option cause we were there pretty much the whole day. They do get you to pay on entrance $100k pp which contributes to those seating areas I've spoken about. I would suggest the seating areas if you have a big group of friends that will at least eat and drink. If you're just coming here to swim, there are tables but these are first come first serve. You can book the chairs online as well. Very clean area. Food was great. Prices are pricy, but their food tends to focus on western food so I get why it's priced the way it is. I mostly just drank cocktails by the pool. The staff are really good at remembering your faces, so no matter where you are in the pool or your chair area, they will come to you with your drinks. Their drinks were just amazing as well. Prices were okay. The pool area was pretty amazing as well. This place is family friendly. So many kids and adults daring to jump the 5m dive board kept many people entertained. There's bean bags floating around these pool that you can fall asleep on, but once again first come first serve kind of thing. Also don't forget to put some sunscreen on. My friend fell asleep on one of these things and she got burnt! No showers. Just a rinse off area. Towels can be purchased for this place. If you chose to purchase the seats, it comes with 2 free towels. Only negative thing was the pool bar was not open during the day, and the staff were rude to my Balinese looking friend. She got offended when she was waiting to speak to the bartender (there was a line), she got ignored and the bartender decided to take the orders of another Aussie person instead. Otherwise a...
