Paradise Found.

Where do I begin to describe the magic experienced at SKOOL Kitchen? This isn't just a restaurant; it's a sensory immersion. From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in an atmosphere of pure enchantment.

The setting itself is breathtaking. As the sun began its descent into the ocean, we had front-row seats to nature's most spectacular show. The sound of the waves, along with the chilled-out music from the adjoining beach bar, provided the soundtrack to our evening, creating a truly romantic and unforgettable backdrop.

But the beauty of SKOOL Kitchen extends well beyond its stunning location. The food was simply divine. This isn't your average beachside fare; this is high-quality fine dining executed with precision and passion. Each dish was a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with fresh, local flavours elevated to an exquisite level. We savoured every bite, from the delicate appetizers to the richly satisfying mains and the decadent dessert that followed. It was clear that the chefs take immense pride in their craft, and the result was a culinary experience that delighted our palates.

Adding to the overall perfection was the incredible ambience and atmosphere. The gentle sea breeze, the tasteful décor, and the subtle background music all contributed to a sense of tranquility and romance. It was the kind of place where you instantly felt relaxed and completely at ease.

However, what truly elevated our experience to another level was the exceptional staff. From the moment we were greeted to the moment we reluctantly said goodbye, every single member of the team was genuinely friendly, attentive, and incredibly responsive. They anticipated our needs before we even voiced them, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring our glasses were never empty. Their warmth and genuine smiles made us feel incredibly welcome and valued. It’s rare to find such a seamless blend of professionalism and genuine hospitality.

Our night at SKOOL Kitchen was more than just a meal; it was a cherished memory. It was the perfect combination of breathtaking views, exquisite food, a captivating atmosphere, and truly outstanding service. It was a night where time seemed to slow down, allowing us to fully savour the beauty of Bali and the joy of each other's company. We left feeling completely enchanted and utterly in love with the...

Worst experience ever! We are regular guests here. (Booking under my husbands name in case you plan to reply with “we checked & there is no reservation under your name“ as you reply to every other negative comment!) But their customer service seems to went down the drain. 1. You have to make a deposit of 49 usd - which is fine but once you go there to dine they will tell you the deposit did not reach them and you have to pay the full bill and they will send the amount back to your credit card. All good until here. The next day they message you and tell you that if they have to send the money back to you they have to deduct 200k IDR and this is guests responsibility! Like what? Why? This is absolutely ridiculous, not sure who came up with this idea, but looks like a scam to me! We ordered lots of food and ate. And still had 30min on their 2h table policy so we had our drinks and watched the sunset. Our waiter came twice to ask for dessert which we declined. Then around 1 min later another waiter came to ask if we want to order dessert and i said: “but your colleague just asked us a minute ago” in the same moment I lool at our waitress to the left and she is standing there staring at us ashamed that I literally caught her as she sent her colleague to check if we want to order dessert. Another 10 min later she came again and we were asked for the 4th time to order dessert. And I said: my dear you asked us 4 times now and 4 times we said no. And she said: because you only have 2 hours then you have to leave” we said we know but we still have time and we still have drinks, we were not sitting on an empty table and before we ordered lots of food enough for 4 people even though we are only 2 people! So something was super off this evening. We did not feel like complaining about this bad service yesterday but now the issue with refunding our deposit even though it is their fault and their responsibility was really the cherry on top. So from now on this place is an absolute no-go for us. (Btw they just called us and had a long useless phone call with not taking any responsibility. They ask for deposits a day before dinner, if it does not reach them on time it is their responsibility to pay us the full amount back and not deduct THEIR bank fees from our deposit- considering we already paid extras fees for...

Our most expensive dinner in Bali, but not our best meal.

The food was all fine, but nothing spectacular or drastically disappointing. Their best thing going for them is the for location. I think for the average Jo out on holiday it may hit the spot but If you eat out regularly here and overseas, don’t expect to be left mind blown.

When considering the competition here I don’t think the prices reflect the food quality.

The half chicken we ordered was more of a quarter chicken. We ordered the half chicken a couple of days prior around the corner at mason which was double in size and half the price than Skool, and imo far more delicious with just as an impressive fit out.

the seafood we had was also so-so. The raw dishes we have had at alma or shelter again were far more Impressive at a far more competitive price. The oysters we ordered were double the price than anything we get in New Zealand and we’re leaning towards the slimy side for me. I don’t understand the prices here truly bizarre.

desserts again were fine, a bit gimmicky, big on theatre with the smash merengue. The pear crumble my partner couldn’t eat the custard, the crumble was very dry and needed the sauce to balance so it wasn’t all edible for him. Again, for aggressively average food it was shocking it was the most expensive dessert we had in Bali. I’m truly surprised they get by with the competition around canggu. the most spectacular dessert we had was at shelter. So go there if you do want to be truly impressed (at a reasonably price point too!!)

if you’re a foodie I would pass on this one, It’s pedestrian food with a nice location, which i don’t have a problem with but I think the price should reflect this as it’s wildly overpriced.

I would say it could be appropriate to go here for a (half strength) cocktail to enjoy the sunset to make the most of the location and their limited skill set. But even then, if you’re a cocktail connoisseur, the drinks we had did not taste very alcoholic, half shots? And thats if you’re lucky to get service, we had to ask for the wine list halfway through the night when we saw people had wine as we were only offered the cocktails menu and no one checks if you want...

Skool Restaurant has always held a special place in my culinary repertoire, and with the unveiling of their new menu, it has transcended to new heights of sophistication. Ordered half of the menu, several dishes have etched themselves into my culinary memory: * Grilled Duck Heart Skewer, Xinjiang Spice: The seemingly innocuous Grilled Duck Heart Skewer took me by surprise with a daring dance of flavors, notably accentuated by Xinjiang Spice. The Szechuan spices, in particular, left an indelible mark, elevating the dish to a bold and spicy crescendo. * Tandoori Spiced Octopus, Eggplant Raita, Chilli Oil: The Tandoori Spiced Octopus is a testament to culinary finesse, with its impeccably executed texture and taste. The smokiness and subtle heat from the chili oil engaged in a perfect culinary waltz, leaving a lasting impression. * Iberico Pork Jowl, Grilled Kale, Sauerkraut: Displaying a symphony of flavors, the Iberico Pork Jowl emerged as a culinary masterpiece. The perfectly cooked jowl, complemented by expertly prepared sides of grilled kale and sauerkraut, resulted in a dish of unparalleled depth. * Woodfired Gnocchi, Preserved Truffle Sauce, Pecorino Sardo: Earning its place as a second favorite, the Woodfired Gnocchi tantalized the palate with its charred exterior and ethereal fluffiness within. The addition of freshly grated truffle elevated this dish to extraordinary heights. * Warrnambool Lamb Saddle, Lamb Glaze, Parsnip: Securing the top spot as my favorite, the Warrnambool Lamb Saddle showcased meticulous craftsmanship. Cooked low and slow over a wood fire, the result was sheer perfection. The lamb's beautiful char and the surprising balance introduced by the grilled parsnip made every bite an exquisite experience. A word of advice: this culinary gem requires an advance order, emphasizing the dedication to perfection. Hats off to the culinary team under the skilled guidance of Chef Vallian, orchestrating an open kitchen spectacle that seamlessly marries culinary artistry with a fiery team spirit. Skool Restaurant's new menu is undoubtedly a journey into refined indulgence, leaving patrons with an unforgettable epicurean experience.

EDIT: 20th March 2025. Just a heads up, for any other solo travellers. You can’t book for one. I tried to book earlier again for 1 this friday, but there’s literally no where else to book BUT the kitchen counter. (i’ve attached a new screenshot of their website and you can see you can’t select any other seats but the kitchen counter for 1 PAX.) I’m not going to risk being moved again like I had been when I first visit a year ago so I’m going to Yuki instead. I went to Potato Head just now and they literally allow you to sit anywhere. This is just insane. But I guess some restaurants have different policies for some weird reason. Dawn, I know you asked to reach out. And I did. But I think you don’t understand what actually happened and blamed it on operational needs. Instead of doing better by changing your policies, you don’t do anything. So you’re telling me, each time I want to book a table, I’ll have to whatsapp you? Do you know how incredibly taxing that is just waiting for a reply that would take days? Not angry or mad, just disappointed. It’s alright, i’ll just go somewhere else where i’ll be appreciated. —————————————- Initial Review. I love this place. but as a solo traveller it doesnt make sense/unfair that they only can be seated at the counter bar. we cant be seated anywhere else but the counter bar. it’s ridiculous how we can’t enjoy eating comfortably like anyone else. just because we are travelling solo, we have to be excluded out? please please please do better or change your rules. more and more people are travelling solo. i did however stood my ground and refuse to move for the table i have reserved. i booked for two because i couldnt book for one, but they soon found out i was alone and tried to move me to the bar. but i refused because why? the table is available and i’m here. why do you need to move me when i am a paying customer? totally ruined my experience. the only reason i gave it two stars for service was because Adi(if i remember his name correctly) helped me when I lost my shades in my grabcar and he helped contact grab for me using his phone as I don’t have autoroaming. amazing guy.
