Grab a seat—let me share two clear examples of discrimination I personally experienced at this well-known Canggu establishment. Please note: I, too, own a hospitality company, so I fully understand the ins and outs of this business.
First incident: On this particular evening, I chose to dine alone, as I often do. This establishment had actually been one of my favorites since moving here. I was seated on the far left, where it was mostly empty. After ordering, I briefly went to the restroom. Upon returning, I found a group of women sitting at my table. I told them the seat was taken; after a short back-and-forth, they moved.
Shortly after, a staff member asked me to move to a bean bag or to my far right next to a wall because she claimed she needed my table for a larger party. Though reluctant, I obliged out of respect for being a frequent guest. To my surprise, the “larger party” was the very same group of women who had previously taken my seat. What shocked me further was the fact that there were plenty of other empty tables available.
That same group proceeded to antagonize me, mocking the situation while I sat quietly. Eventually, I asked to speak with the manager. I spoke with a man named Daniel, who dismissed my concern as a “seating issue” and quickly denied that race was a factor. As a person of color, I know when racism is at play. He offered me a free drink and asked me to wait while he “investigated,” but I declined.
Second incident: While speaking with him, I noticed something that made me even more uneasy. A man was freely dining inside wearing a basketball jersey. Why is that noteworthy? Just two weeks prior, I came with friends, and one of them was denied entry for wearing a jersey. The staff cited a strict “No Jersey” policy and told him he could only enter if he rented a black t-shirt for 100k. Yet, on this night, multiple men of a different ethnicity were inside wearing basketball jerseys with no issue.
Conclusion: Simply put—if you are of darker skin tone and value your hard-earned money, save yourself the trip. This establishment’s behavior made it clear: they only truly cater to white European groups. I've heard many watning about this establishment from my local friends. I can now say...
Read moreThe Lawn Bali is, without a doubt, the best beach club I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. From the moment I stepped onto the premises, I was completely captivated by its exceptional atmosphere, music, and breathtaking views.
The atmosphere at The Lawn is nothing short of magical. With its lush green lawn leading to a stunning stretch of sandy beach, it's a paradise on earth. The tastefully designed seating areas, both sun-soaked and shaded, offer a perfect blend of relaxation and excitement. Whether you want to lounge on a sunbed or dance to the tunes of a talented DJ, The Lawn caters to every beachgoer's desires.
Speaking of the DJ, the music selection here is exceptional. The tunes resonated with the laid-back beach vibe, creating an ambiance that's hard to find elsewhere. It was the kind of music that made you want to sway with the sea breeze and lose track of time.
The view at The Lawn is simply mesmerizing. The club is perched right on the coastline, offering panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Watching the sun dip below the horizon was an unforgettable experience. It's the kind of view that makes you appreciate the beauty of nature.
Now, let's talk about the food. The menu at The Lawn is not only delicious but also reasonably priced. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dishes they offered. From fresh seafood to delectable Indonesian cuisine, every bite was a delight. The affordability of the food here is a rarity for beach clubs of this caliber, making it all the more appealing.
The staff at The Lawn are incredibly friendly and helpful. Their warm smiles and attentive service added to the overall positive experience. They were always ready to assist, whether it was with recommendations, setting up a beachfront table, or simply ensuring we had a great time.
In conclusion, my visit to The Lawn Bali was nothing short of perfection. The impeccable atmosphere, captivating DJ sets, breathtaking views, affordable and tasty food, and the friendly staff make it an unparalleled beach club experience. I can't wait to return to this tropical paradise, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable...
Read moreNice spot in Canggu to soak in the sun on a lazy Sunday. Truly great service- although we didn’t have a bed booked, they still went out of their way to accommodate us by the regular table. The place is usually full on the weekend so it’s probably smart to make a reservation before going. We stayed all day- drinking, eating and enjoying the pool. Few hours in, when one of the ‘big beds’ groups left, we have been offered a sea front bed without any additional cost as apparently our bill was high. Amazing gesture, and end of the day they really didn’t have to do that so big plus for an outstanding service. The pool is nice but it isn’t as impressive as you can see on the website. We were not very lucky as it was also full of kids. We tried several dishes and cocktails, the food is okay but nothing special to be honest. As much as we enjoyed the place I wouldn’t choose it as strictly dining destination. I would also suggest to order a bottle of an actual spirit with mixers for your table rather than cocktails as they are very weak but that’s the case everywhere in Bali I guess. The location is amazing so it’s a great place to enjoy a sunset. The place has nice atmosphere, decent music and is very well kept. Overall very nice experience- will definitely be coming back and recommend the it to anyone who...
