Not sure about the restaurant itself, but my wife and I ordered dinner using Grab from this place two nights in a row. Each time we got totally different dishes, and all of them were so good that I came around on Bali/Indonesian cuisine. I originally thought it was good, but didn't really have any of the bang that Thai/Vietnamese food has. Those two countries' cusineses, whether you like them or not, are easily identifiable. Indonesian food seemed to lack any real signifiers that set it apart from just your typical SE asian fare. That is, I thought that until I had Shanti Warung's food. So flavorful! Such great ingredients! It really is amazing food and, when you factor in the price, it cannot be beaten.
My personal favorites were their Soto Ayam and Gado Gado. Such simple dishes done so well that they rocked my world. Seriously, this is the #1 Indonesian restaurant in Ubud (which basically means the whole world as far as my experience is...
Read moreSomeone in this kitchen can COOK! So far I’ve eaten here three times and am slowly making my way through their menu, which is not easy when you’re traveling solo. The menu is small which is usually a good sign - means the kitchen focuses on what they do best with high ingredient turnover. They do a brisk Grab delivery service as well, from what I’ve seen. Their presentation game is solid, their location is lovely and the prices are super reasonable. All of that combined would already give them good reviews even if their food was of standard quality and taste. But - everything I’ve had so far is some of the best examples of these basics of Indonesian cuisines. And it’s usually the simplest dishes that are the hardest to master. Nasi campur, mie goreng, bihun goreng, chicken sate, green pancakes. I’ve eaten tons of these during my years living in Indonesia but this place nailed it! I’ll be back tonight and tomorrow to try some more...
Read moreAfter eating, my girlfriend got food poisoning. We do not recommend ordering from here at all. The food was tasteless and disgusting. We've been in Bali for 17 days, so you can spare us the excuse that we're not used to the local food. She'll be going to the hospital soon. It's a good thing I didn't eat the food myself, as I had an accident, had surgery, and the last thing I need is to deal with food poisoning. That would be the last straw.
Due to the surgery, I hadn't eaten for 2 days and ordered a soup. It tasted awful and was packed in a bag. I had a bit and couldn't finish it. Really disgusting.
My girlfriend didn't eat much either, but as they say, hunger is the best cook, so she ate it. Not all of it, but most of it. I really do not recommend ordering food from here. I'm...
