Traditional Sundanese restaurant, not very big parking lot. More ideal for groups than for solo/couple. Very accomodating place for large groups. Good choice for tourist. Large tables and sturdy chairs. Adequately clean place, but there was only 2 wash basins outside, so sometimes when crowded you had to queue. And sometimes it got very crowded, especially when there were buses of tourists visiting. Not too fancily decorated, just enough to set the place in sundanese ambience. The welcoming waitress assigned a table and ushered us straight to the food tables inside. Another waitress took notes and prepared food we chose (one waitress per table). Raw salad and sambals were self-service (but not free, so take them in sufficient amount only). Very wide array of meats and vegetables and sambals was offered, you'd got difficulties to choose, believe me. Plain tea was served free in small glasses, you could ask for refill (standard Sundanese). Fish and other sea products was rather highly priced, about 25-30k per smallish piece. Sate maranggi was delicious and decently priced, also in smallish size. We paid about IDR230k total. As in the restaurant's name, our eating section was table covered by a 30cm long banana leaf, and bare hands. Read moreLoved it 1 year ago in 2017. Return back twice in 2018, the latest one around June, with my parents and we are not planning to come back again. The food wasn't so great anymore, service was sub-standard and all orders got mixed up, still reasonable but higher price, spent about IDR 60,000/person here. I was here for Monday lunch (2 PM, not a peak hour). The restaurant was not crowded and because of that, they didn't allow me to sit where I wanted. I don't want to sit all the way deep inside the restaurant because I bring some elderly people so I just don't want them to walk that far. They insisted that the foyer area that I want was closed and all customers should be seated inside. Reluctantly we go inside, then 10 minutes later another family bringing their grandparents want to sit in the foyer area too but the waiter still insist that this family have to sit inside so the waiters can conveniently cater them. I really wish they would have consider what the customers need instead of their own convenience in serving. After all the seating arrangement drama, they didn't get my order right. Read moreLet's start with service: I can only give one star on this one because it's unacceptable for this price tier that you pay first and eat later. Unfortunately yes, if you eat here you're going to pay the same price you would pay in a high end indonesian restaurant with premium table service, however the service doesn't match it. When you're still sitting down they're gonna ask you if you want some cilok, rujak and other appetizers, as if they were seemingly being offered by the house, however they don't mention that this is not free at all. Also when you go to the buffet you can't see the price of anything, if you really wanna know you need to ask but it's gonna make you feel uncomfortable. Even the sambal and salad is gonna be accounted for on the bill.
Atmosphere: good, it's traditional and welcoming, however I can't give 5 stars due to the absence of fans.
The food: unfortunately it tastes like regular food you can find anywhere in Indonesia, if not worse sometimes, but the thing that makes the rating go down is the overpricing. Another unacceptable thing we found was the Tofu (Tahu gejrot) being very smelly and basically inedible. I dont know what is that we ate that wasn't fresh, but I still have stomach ache.
Overall not recommended, won't come back until: they put price tags on everything they make sure their food is fresh...
