First Chapter Coffeehouse — Restaurant in Batam City

Tried this cafe after I've been eyeing it for a while, I ordered three things - a hot lemon tea, fudgy brownies and the infamous cookie bomb.

Hot lemon tea is exactly what you think it is, hot tea with a lemon wedge floating above it. It was decent, and I appreciate them seperating the sugar so you could pour your own glass. Warm and comforting, good if you want something simple.

Fudgy brownies was somewhat underwhelming, for 32k, I could've gotten a ricebowl with that same price. The top is crackly with moist brownie, but it isn't exactly "fudgy". There was a vague bitter aftertaste from the dark chocolate which I enjoyed, which I'll give slight praise, but I'd recommend getting something else, maybe the carrot cake or one of the aforementioned ricebowls.

Lastly, the cookie bomb, took 20 minutes of wait time (which was warned by my server beforehand) - when it came, the server asked if I wanted to put the ice cream on top, which I complied. The cookie itself was a bit on the sweeter end, there was a recognizable roasted brown sugar taste, paired with melty chocolate chips. The inside was gooey and melty, and the outside hosted a thick crust which crackled within my mouth. The soft-serve vanilla was decent, a bit sweeter, I'd prefer if it were more mellow to combat the sweetness of the cookie.

Atmosphere was nice, they played quiet indie songs, though the server did sit on his phone to video call someone - although that's hardly a detriment, I'm no narc. It felt kinda homey, a nice cafe to catch up on work.

Overall, I'd give it 5 stars, but out of ten? It's teetering towards an 8/10. I might return to try the...

I have ordered 4 times within the past 6 months 🥰 Lots of walnuts, very balanced and decent cream cheese frosting, soft and moist cake, and the spices are well balanced! Ini gak eneg sama sekali dan gak berat •Cookie bomb is alright. Ice cream quality is good, not cheap. Cookie is crispy on the outside but a bit too soft, slightly undercooked, on the inside. Cookie bomb arrived almost 30mins after ordering.

Yes, I tried the kopi rantau... Hell yeah agreed it is good.

The food, chicken katsu curry rice is tremendously good, golden crispy skin with tender juicy chicken, the curry not strong enough but giving good taste to the overall dish. The kungpao chicken rice tastes too strong, lighten the sauce a bit will make a perfect dish. Well done for the kitchen personnel!

The atmosphere is good for hang out with friends, family probably yes, but should be in second or third chapter house.
