Tried yet another seafood place this time.
We were surprised to arrive at a completely empty restaurant. It was a Tuesday noon at lunch hour, so we thought there would be at least some patrons. The place was super hot, and they turned on one air con unit just for us where we got seated.
We ordered the Thai prawn cakes, salted egg calamari, Hong Kong style steamed grouper, crab bee hoon, homemade tahu, sambal kang Kong, salted egg crispy fish skin, crabmeat fried rice and seafood fried rice.
When we asked about the size of the grouper they had, they said their big ones are about 900g, so we ordered that for our group of 4. However, when it came, it looked way smaller than 900g, so we called the staff over, and he confirmed that they only had 700g grouper and that we would only be charged for that. The fish was fresh and well cooked, though, so that sort of made up for the lack of clarity before.
The Thai prawn cakes were disappointing. They were nothing like the ones we had in different parts of Thailand.
The salted egg fish skin and calamari were pretty decent, but you can hardly go wrong with those 2. At least the squid rings were rather chunky, and the texture was great.
The crab bee hoon was average. It sort of looked and smelled better than it tasted. It wasn't bad, but just wasn't great either.
The tahu and kang Kong were normal, as were the 2 types of fried rice. The crabmeat fried rice was a little better.
The location is nice as it's just by the water. But in the day, it's way too hot to even consider taking a...
Read moreVerily, the worst Thai food I have eaten in my life. Pineapple rice is wet and totally tasteless. Tom Yum soup? I can't fathom the flavour. Green curry, order at your own risk. Mango salad is acceptable by force..it's way too sour. Basil chicken with rice? Absolutely no taste nor fragrance from the Thai basil leaves. With all due respect, I simply cannot understand nor accept the fact that the rating is so high. Pricing to me is still acceptable by portion but definitely not by standard. The restaurant was nearly full when I visited with the staff scruffling around lost and impatient. There's live singing so loudly that we could hardly converse. Seriously please! Do away with the singing. It completely ruined the beautiful Seaview atmosphere. To those that gave 5 star reviews, I reckon your taste buds are ruined or you have yet to truly taste and understand the authenticity of Thai food. Its such a shame and disgrace really. First and definitely the LAST time and thanks for nothing to a totally destroyed dining experience that I specially chose this place to host a dinner to my friends. I am embarrassed...
